Rainy Day Essentials

So spring in the Northwest means bi-polar weather. There’s just no way to get around it.

For example: I left my house to run some errands and it was cloudy, no rain. Got in my car and started driving, drizzle. Got to the store, lashing rain. Went in, shopped, bought an umbrella because I didn’t have mine for some unknown reason, left the shop…and it was sunny again.

So aggravating!

How I feel about this weather!

Anyways, here are my rainy day essentials and a couple items I use to get me through life when the weather is acting crazy!

#1 Umbrella
Interestingly enough, North westerners are known for not using umbrellas but I can’t live without one. Mainly because I detest being damp. You know that not quite wet, not quite dry sensation? I really don’t like it.

Back to umbrellas, I keep one everywhere: in my car, in the house, in my bag, etc.
What can I say, I like to be prepared. I also bring a plastic bag with me. That way when I go inside I can keep my umbrella from dripping everywhere

#2 Raincoat with a hood

This one is a given but a good raincoat can make or break a day. I have several, all with varying levels of insulation to keep me warm and dry all year round.
#3 Appropriate footwear
These are my fall/winter rain boots. I also have a pair of jelly flats that I can wear when the weather is warmer and it is less muddy.
If you don’t like getting your feet wet, look into a cute pair of Wellington boots that can be lightweight for the spring and summer. In the winter, I always suggest something a little more heavy duty like these. They are weather proof AND fleece lined which make them my most worn item of the winter

What are your rainy day essentials? Let me know!

Until next time,
