So I realize that I am pretty much the last person in the bloggersphere to address 2015’s Pantone Color of the Year but here we go!
Marsala.
I’ve heard a ton of hate about how boring this year’s color is but I’m all about Marsala. It’s a beautiful burnt wine hue that is completely wearable in any aspect of your look.
If you’re looking to get in on the Marsala action look for words like wine, berry, cranberry, oxblood, claret, or burgundy and you will be headed down the right track.
Check out these different pieces all in this year’s color!
1) Lipstick
The simplest way to work this color into your everyday look is to test out a lippy in this red-brown tone. I have been loving this Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in the shade ‘Touch of Spice‘ for a non-drying matte look to the lips that incorporates the color Marsala. It is a wearable color for the everyday or special occasions.
2) Accessories
Keep the rest of your look neutral and accessorize with wine colored add-ons. Steve Madden BGemmaa Bucket Bag is the perfect bag for the season hitting two trends at once: bucket bag and color of the year.
A statement necklace like this Marsala Three Necklaces from Shoptiques adds color and statement to any outfit.
Wear marsala on your ears with these earring options. There is the Kate Spade New York ‘secret Garden’ Mixed Stone Stud Earrings for the studs girl, Kendra Scott ‘Danielle – Large’ Oval Statement Earrings for statement sized drop earrings, and Givenchy Drop Earrings for a simple drop of color.
3) Shirts
Tons of tops have recently sprung onto the scene since the announcement of the year’s new color. For gals who love peplum or anyone on a budget check out H&M Burgundy Peplum Top one among many new pieces in this color.
Free People’s Drippy Thermal Sunset Park Top is a great piece for cozy days with its high-low hemline.
For drapey work wear check out Topshop’s Surplice Pocket Blouse and Anthropologie’s Maeve Eva Wrap Blouse.
And for the sweater lovers, J.Crew’s Merino wool pocket tunic is the one for you.
4) Skirts
For the mini lover,Topshop’s Velvet Miniskirt is for you while the H&M Knee-length Skirt can look great on those who don’t want to flash all that thigh.
The girly girl in me loves this BCBGMAXAZRIA Ponte Knit Flare Skirt with its delicately feminine flare.
Zac Posen Textured Crepe Pencil Skirt is perfect office wear for the working woman who still wants color in her life.
And for all of us who love him, McQ Alexander McQueen Leather Mini Skirt is to die for with its leather zip detail.
5) Pants
For days when normal denim if just too blah, try out one of these three options all in hues of Marsala.
Kiind of ‘Monroe’ Twill Skinny Jeans are a cotton blend denim that are currently on sale for the savvy shopper.
Super stretch Joe’s Jeans Mid Rise Legging Jeans give a tight fit but still allow movement.
These Rag & bone JEAN Mid-rise skinny jeans come in a beautiful burgundy as well as five other off the wall colors.
6) Dresses
There are dresses galore to choose from when looking for the perfect wine colored frock.
For the splurge that will keep you warm all winter long, check out Neiman Marcus’ Cashmere Long-Sleeve Turtleneck Dress. (Currently on sale!)
Diane von Furstenberg has two great party pieces depending on whether you want a curve hugging number (Hallie color-block jersey mini dress) or a skater style skirt (Jeannie stretch-jersey crepe mini dress). Both are also currently on super sale too, bonus!
Anthropologie’s Maeve Lene Dress is a great option for the everyday working girl while Wayf’s Long Sleeve Crepe Shift Dress could look great as a tunic as well
7) Shoes
My personal favorite way to wear Marsala is on my feet.
For the bootie that will get you through weekend errands all the way to happy hour, check out the Pink & Pepper Pearl Bootie in burgundy. They have a wide selection of other wearable colors as well.
For the night (or day) you need killer heels, Jessica Simpson’s ‘Cayna’ Ankle Strap Pumps are a great option as they are both sexy but still walkable.
Everyday flats are covered in the for of Jeffrey Campbell’s Lawford Tassel Haircalf Loafers or by Dolce Vita Smoking Flats. Shoes for every occasion
