SAM Remix

DRESS: Japana via TJ Maxx (similar here) // SHOES: Forever 21 (similar here) // CLUTCH: Target // LIPSTICK: L’Oreal Wet Stain in Coral Tattoo

This past Friday night, I had the chance to attend a party here in Seattle, the SAM Remix. Hosted by and at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM), they open up their doors to ticket holders for music, dancing, performances, and various activities.
It is a great opportunity to see a museum at maximum capacity because this party sells out and there was a line around the block when we arrived of people trying to get last chance tickets! I loved the energy throughout the night, especially while checking out the current exhibits. None of that silent and staunch museum atmosphere tonight! People were actively talking about the pieces they were looking at and discussing the different exhibits.

I love the car installation hanging throughout the atrium of the museum. It always reminds me of Back to the Future. This was also one of the rare times the lights in the building are turned down and sun isn’t shining through the windows, so the lights on the cars are far more impressive!

One room held a large Rube Goldberg machine where someone could putt the golf ball into the start and everyone watched as the machine did its work with the golf ball finally coming out the other side.
The only problem was the number of people who wanted to take a turn had to wait for the museum volunteers to re-set up the machine each time!

A personal favorite highlight of the activities was the “What’s Bertha Thinking?” board. In this hallway, they encouraged people to write down a thought and tape it up. For those not in Seattle, Bertha is a drill that was supposed to bore the world’s largest tunnel underneath Seattle. Needless to say, she has been stuck in place for the better part of the year and this gave us Seattlites a chance to poke a little fun at the situation.

Another favorite of the activities on Friday were the Highly Opinionated Tours. Rather than taking a standard museum tour with a docent, various member of the Seattle arts community led the tours and let people know what they really think about the art displayed!

Indigenous Beauty is currently on exhibit at the SAM until May 17th. Well worth the visit for those interested in Native American art.

Like any good party, there of course was a theme and dress code for those who wanted a free entry. Head to toe silver was the name of the game and I think that these two took the prize!

This group was some solid competition for the duo above. I especially liked the inclusion of the wig and sunglasses!

I hope you all had a delightful weekend! After Friday, the weather here took a turn for the worse so I’m glad that I had the chance to wear my pink and orange shift dress prior. It’s just so spring-y and I love it! I’ve added a couple other options for those of you interested in getting your spring style on below!

Until next time!

Here are some other shift dresses that I love!
