Well after about two weeks of no rain and blue skies, Monday started off with torrential downpour, thunder, and lightening. Go figure. Similar to the story I told about it always raining over Memorial Day weekend, the same goes with the end of the school year. Schools around this region generally let out around the first week of June. Therefore, June 1st what do you get? Downpour.
Here are some of my top tips for dealing with rainy days and still stay stylish!
1) Invest in a trench
Not only will it look extra chic and European (in my mind, at least) but it will also protect you from the elements. The longer the coat, the more of your outfit will be preserved from the deluge or drizzle. I tend to like wearing shorter trench coats when I’m wear a dress and longer ones with pants.
2) Have a go-to updo
Have a hair style in your back pocket that you can whip out with the hint of rain. This helps avoid the frizzy hair look in case of humidity or, as has happened to me before, getting caught in the rain sans umbrella
3) Plan to pack ahead
I have the habit of always checking the weather forecast for the day as I get ready in the morning. This has helped me avoid mid-day showers on many occasion while my fellows where caught off guard. I pack a small compact umbrella and a small plastic bag into my bag for the day and am always ready to fight off the rain. And if anything, packing that umbrella will help it stay dry 😉
4) Closed toe is a must
While the open toe ankle boots are a favorite trend of mine, I simply cannot tolerate having wet toes! Find your favorite styles with closed toes (and heels) for those damp days. Either that or rock out with your toes out if you don’t mind having wet toes. I salute you!
How do you ladies stay stylish on damp days? Is it something that you deal with often or only on occasion?
Share with me in the comments! I’d love to hear from you!

  2. I never owned a pair of rain boots until this school year, and the moment I put them on, I felt so powerful! No longer did I need to tiptoe my way around dangerously looking puddles 🙂 Loving your umbrella! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

I was the same. I never used to wear them because I felt like they never matched my outfits but finally I gave in and learned that dry feet are much better. Having a colorful pair helps as well 🙂

Great tips! It’s currently downpouring here in Jersey as well, for the past THREE DAYS. It’s pretty chilly and gloomy, but honestly this weather BEGS for a day in bed with Pjs and some movies. How do you Seattlelites stay motivated?!

It’s a daily struggle. The spring and summer here almost makes up for it though. I manage by wearing colorful outfits on grey days. That’s why you see that yellow handbag so much 😉

  10. I love trenches, but have yet to buy one that I truly love–I just have a few “meh” ones. Yours is super cute! Also–where is your umbrella from? I adore it!
