Now if you’ve been here a while, you’ll know that I have had a turbulent relationship with rompers. For a long while, I really didn’t like the style. I hoped that it was a trend that would be over with the summer. Alas rompers were around to stay and I continued to quietly dislike the style. Until one day, I need a change of clothes (for whatever reason I can’t remember at the moment) and the only thing available to me was a romper. Oh did that change things!
A lesson in “don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it”, I now love rompers. They are comfortable, cool, and simple for the summer. They are just like wearing a dress but without the fear of a Marilyn moment. This look is my ‘going out’ romper. Yes, I have categories of rompers now. The change has been drastic friends!
Adding a cropped jacket helps keep this backless high neck romper from looking too night-clubish during a mid week happy hour date. I also love pairing the bright cobalt blue of this romper with another equally bright color for balance. Hot pink did just the trick for me but I have also paired my yellow bag for a similar statement. While this may not be a look one would normally see waltzing through Seattle, I love it as it reminds me of both my New York and LA days. And when I’m wearing something this bright that makes such a statement, I’ve got to go all the way!
ROMPER: Forever 21 (old, very similar here) // JACKET: TJ Maxx (similar here) // SHOES: BCBGeneration // BAG: Calvin Klein (thrifted, similar here and here) // SUNGLASSES: H&M // LIPSTICK: Revlon Lip Butter in ‘Sorbet’
What is your take on rompers? Do you love them, hate them, or are you a convert like myself?

I love this look! I have a similar feeling about rompers – it can be a love hate relationship. I own a couple now and absolutely love them!
I’m glad that I found a kindred spirit! Thanks for reading Amy!
I am obsessed with your shoes! I’ve been admiring those same shows from Aldo (in black and a blush-pink color) for awhile now. I might take the plunge and buy them! I also love the cobalt blue and how it stands out with your hot pink bag! Gorgeous look altogether. Commenting from The Blogging Elite!

I totally know what you mean. I’m tall, so finding the right fit in a romper can be tricky. When I do though, it’s love! This looks so good on you, and I love the striped jacket.

I’m glad you decided to embrace the romper trend. You look hot in it! I haven’t tried it out for fear of looking younger than people already think I am.

Thank you Anna! (Great name ;))
I too had been quietly hating rompers (and jumpsuits). I’m not a fan of shorts, or one piece clothing items, yet when I finally tried it on, that “don’t knock it til you try it” saying had been singing in my head ever since! Smart move with this blazer on this one- so adorable!
