This year Pantone shook things up a bit by choosing two rather than a single color of the year. The deep hue Marsala has moved over and made space for light pastels Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue. Rose Quartz, a pale blush pink, and Serenity, pale baby blue, are both beautiful colors that I look forward to wearing all year long. While I love wearing Rose Quartz for its feminine qualities (you know I love my pink), it sometimes can feel like a challenge to wear the color as an adult.
Adding structured piece like this pencil dress into your wardrobe is one way to wear Rose Quartz with a bit more polish. The more tailored or structured a piece is, the less girly or youthful it will appear.
If your personal style tends to be on the edgier side of things, maybe try softening up your look by adding an unexpected pop of pastel, much like this moto jacket.
It’s pale nature helps Rose Quartz function as a neutral as well, so next time you reach for white, grey, or taupe consider wearing a little bit of pink instead. Even in just your shoes or a lipstick.
What did you think when Pantone announced the two colors of the year? Let me know in the comments!
Side note: I ordered this dress with the thought that I might wear it to my upcoming bridal shower and not a week later mega-blogger Rachel Parcell posts this exact dress on her blog, Pink Peonies. You know what they say about great minds 😉

Love your look from head to toe! The dress and jacket are gorgeous. I have never been a “pink” pink girl, but I do love a dusty rose, and Rose Quartz fits right in with that. I was critical of the two Pantone Colors of the Year at first, but within a few days, I fell in love with them. Funny, huh? Thank you for sharing this gorgeous look! #HelloMonday
What and amazing dress! You look stunning and I just simply cannot get enough of that color! Your leopard clutch sheer perfection!
I’m also in love with the rose quartz this year – so pretty, especially for spring! This pencil dress look beautiful on you! It would be great for a dressier day at the office (my office is typically more casual)!

I agree that pink can be a colour which may not be taken too seriously and that could be why many adults don’t wear it all too often. However, I personally think it only applies in the circumstance when it’s a shade of Barbie pink 🙂 and the pink dress you’re wearing is stunning. The merest hint of pink is, in my opinion, also the classiest and most kickass. You go!! xoxo
This dress is a stunner! I love the wrap detail at the side of it.

That dress is seriously stunning on you! I just love the color!
I’m not sure why pantone opted for 2 colours. Maybe they could not make up their minds. In all honesty, I have not researched and wouldn’t have a clue. Will this be their new standards and was 2016 the inauguration year? Maybe…
Obsessed with Rose Quartz. You look amazing. Xo, Megan, http://www.TfDiaries.com
