6 Summer Lipsticks You Need To Try

Hello loves! With it being the height of summer, I’ve found that my beauty routine has finally settled into place after dealing with the changes in weather. While my day to day look remains the same, you know I am a lipstick lover and, as the sole beauty editor of Northwest Blonde (sadly I can’t take credit for that joke but it still makes me chuckle every time), I am constantly on the hunt for the next great shade! I’ve recently found that I have a handful of lippies that I’ve been wearing on rotation that are perfect shades for the warmer months and I know you lovely ladies will want to try.

MAC ‘Coral Bliss’ – You need to feel real confident about the whiteness of your teeth when rocking this gorgeous shade of peachy coral. It’s a creamsheen lipstick that feels amazing on the lips and is seriously perfect during the summer months. If it’s a little too orange for you, it also looks great with a pink lip liner underneath.
MAC ‘Show Orchid’ – Part of the MAC’s amplified lipstick line, Show Orchid is an electric pink for those who don’t want to get to ‘Candy Yum Yum’ territory. It’s in your face pink while still seeming wearable for daytime.
MAC ‘Mehr’ – A work wear staple. Mehr gives off just enough pink for daily wear but is also toned down by some brown tones mixed into the color as well. It may not be the best summer color but is simply a great staple color for those of you who can’t or don’t want to go wild with your makeup
Nars ‘Heat Wave’ – A personal favorite, ‘Heat wave’ is a hot tomato red from Nars that goes on matte and will last you most of the day. If you love a classic red lip, this is a color you need to try! I always get tons of compliments when I wear this color and feel like the warmth of this red is perfect for the summer months!

Now not everyone wants to rush out to Nordstrom and snag a new lipstick for $15 (although they have some great deals going on now during the Anniversary Sale, fyi), so I’ve found three lipsticks that are under $10 and will get you the same color as the MAC lipsticks above. They are all from my favorite drugstore lipstick brand, Revlon. Revlon has yet to make a lipcolor that I don’t like and while I could rant and rave about their quality and pigmentation, I’ll save you and just get on to the colors.

Revlon Lip Butter ‘Candy Apple‘ – A bright candy apple red just like the name suggests, this is a great color for those who need that punch of color but don’t like the drying feel of matte lipsticks. Bonus? These lip butters are easy to apply with a single swipe and super pigmented to boot!
Revlon Lip Butter ‘Juicy Papaya’ – This lip butter is practically the same as MAC ‘Coral Bliss’ so much so that I couldn’t tell the difference when I swatched them on my arm. And the quality is about the same too: creamy, moisturizing, and pigmented.
Revlon Lip Butter ‘Sorbet‘ – Very similar in color to ‘Show Orchid’, all ‘Sorbet’ is missing is that amplified quality. This is an easy fix if you pat just a tiny bit of glittery eyeshadow on top of your lipstick.
