So it’s officially back to school season. Whether or not you’re actually headed back to school, this time of year always puts me in the mood of back to school shopping. It’s a new season, so there are a TON of new trends to test out. Here are the top ten pieces to have in your wardrobe for back to school (plus 30 ways to wear them!)
Plaid button up
this is a fall fashion staple that will never go out of style. Wear it as a shirt or as a layering piece, trust me when I say you’ll be wearing this shirt from September through the holidays. My favorites are from Old Navy
Lace Up Top
Lace up dresses were popular over the summer months and that is going to roll over into fall with boho style lace up tops. I love this one for everyday casual wear.
Printed Dress
A dress is the best thing for days when you opted for one more Netflix episode over sleep, which is why you need one for back to school. It’s the perfect slip on and go style hack.
Oversized Sweater
As the weather cools, layers are necessary for warmth and for added style. These oversized styles are a roll over from the summers off the shoulder trend. Can you say #helloFlashdance, because there are a bunch of off the shoulder sweaters on trend for fall! I personally love the color options of this one.
Long Cardigan
Layers, layers, layers are a must for back to school. A long boyfriend cardigan is a great options instead of a coat in the warmer months but will also add an extra layer of warmth as the weather cools. Plus a longer length cardigan is a #stylewin because it adds interest to any look.
Flare Jeans
The 70’s trend of flare denim is back from last fall and here to stay! If you didn’t get a pair of these super flattering jeans from last season, now is the time to shop! Add a high waist to these jeans and you’ll have legs for days.
Distressed Jeans
While new jeans are a staple for back to school, consider getting a distressed pair for this fall. A little wear around the knees of all color jeans will still keep you super stylish this fall!
Button Front Skirt
Since the 70’s are here to stay, that means a button front skirt is a must! Material like denim or suede are perfectly on trend. Plus you can keep wearing this super cute skirt in the colder months by adding tights.
Ankle Boots
Another classic fall fashion staple are ankle boots. These are a must for back to school as they can be work with just about anything! I’m lusting after these beauties.
Lace Up Flats
Again, we just can’t give up the lace ups! These popular flats are back but now in a ton of new colors. I am particularly loving these burgundy ones for fall and winter.
