How to Rock a Statement Shoe

Hey babes! I’m glad you stopped by today because I want to talk to you about one of my favorite ways to looking dressed up without much work. It’s the statement shoe. Now you’ve probably seen me wearing this look a bunch here on the blog and on Instagram but today I’m going to share with you exactly how I do it and how you can recreate these stylish looks for yourself!

First off, a statement shoe is a really easy way to amp up a relatively simple look. It can add a pop of color or a new fun print into your look without much extra work on your part. There are four things that I think about when rocking a statement shoe.

Keep it neutral or even monochrome
With any statement look, keep the focus on your main piece by toning down everything else. I like to think that I’m creating a great backdrop that will enhase the statement shoe without overshadowing it. For this, try to pick one main color family or even single color to function as the base to your look.

Mix in some prints
Even though you have a statement piece, don’t be afraid to mix in some prints. This helps add dimention to your look. Add small doses of print like a cute clutch or a patterened belt to help enhase your outfit without taking away from your statement shoe. My favorite way to do this, add leopard print! It adds interest as it’s a print but also functions as a neutral!

Think complimentary colors
To really make that shoe pop, combine it with a toned down version of its complimentary color. This is a color that sits across from it on the color wheel. These are pairing like blue and yellow or red and green. Like this look today, the muted blues make the pink stand out even more because they don’t sit next to each other in the color spectrum!

Strut your stuff
When you’re wearing a bold color, don’t forget to walk a little taller. You’ve got a great outfit on with some seriously stylish feet so go strut your stuff!
