Well it’s been a while, but I’m back with another segment to the Designer Alternative series (see the rest of the posts here)! Today we’re looking at another super hot shoe of the moment. Especially after Fashion Week, it’s clear that the Gucci slide on mules are here to stay for a while.
These loafer looking slide on shoes retail at stores like Neimans and Nordstrom for a hefty $600. While yes, this shoe is a neutral modern take on a loafer, it’s not everyone that can wear shearling lined loafers regularly. So if you are looking to try some loafers slide style without the Gucci price, just keep reading!
Jeffrey Campbell Apfel
These Jeffery Campbell sides are the closest design to the Gucci shearling lined version without completely breaking the bank. Everything on this style is similar from the fur lining (faux on this version) to the buckle detail on the top. If you are lusting after the Gucci version but don’t want to spend the $600, then these are a really great alternative.
Zara Lined Leather Mules
These Zara slides are similar to the Gucci version only in their lining and in the loafer slide look. They seem to be more glossy and are lacking the buckle detail as well as the classic loafer shape at the tongue of the shoe.
Zara Leather Loafers
These Zara loafers are close to the Princetown style except for the small detail of them being full on loafers rather than the mules. They have a similar look to the Gucci style but are ideal for someone who wants more stability and security from their shoes (ie: me).
Steve Madden Razzi
Steve Madden has two different style of mules that are very similar to the Princetown. The first is the Razzi, which is a suede mule. This style is very close to the original down to the buckle detail as long as you don’t mind suede rather than leather. Plus this style comes in a variety of colors like navy and camel
See the Razzi in some different colors here
Steve Madden Laaura
The second Steve Madden style is the Laaura. This style is also very close to the Princetown however it looks to have a slightly higher heel than any of the others listed here. These Steve Madden styles are great options is you want quality but are on a tighter budget.
Mia Porsha Mules
These mules are the most affordable of this bunch, which will get you the look for less but are also the least like Gucci Princetowns. You’ll still have the look of a loafer mule but this style are patent leather with a high gloss finish and instead of a metal buckle you’ll find an elastic detail.
Michael Kors Natasha Slide Mules
Finally there are these lovely faux croc mule loafers. These Michael Kors mules do not have the same detailing as the Gucci version but will have more comparable quality than the others. Other than their texture and lack of metal details, these mules are a great option if you want quality shoes without a steep designer price.
Are you on board with mules? How do you feel about the fur lined styles? Let me know in the comments! I’m still on the fence.

Leanne’s black and blush outfit combination is very appropriate for the transitioning from summer to fall and I love how polished this look is. See post here.
This past week has been filled with moments that I wouldn’t change for the world with my own children. When I read Sheree’s letter to her daughter I got teary eyed and remembered once again to cherish the moments we have with our little ones and appreciate them at every stage.
Jodie, Nancy & Charlotte share their spin on the fashion trend western wear/footwear and I rather like what they came up with. See post here.
I couldn’t help but post this lovely outfit from Pam. Something about this outfit screams retro meets today.
I loved Megans bell sleeved and cropped pants look. Two perfect trends to harp on for sure. See post here.
