Whether you’re ready or not, it’s holiday party season! Time to get those party outfits ready! I’m going to have a whole host of holiday outfit inspiration coming up since this time of year brings more parties than any other.
Today we tackle the company holiday party! It’s a tricky one. Not just any party dress will do in front of your boss and co-workers. Here are three things to think of when getting all ready for your work holiday party (that will keep you out of trouble on Monday!)
Keep It Classic
Your company holiday party might not be the best time to test out the latest trends and fashions. Sticking to classic fashion styles and trends may be the best call when you’re enjoying the season in the same room as the VPs. This, of course, is no hardship for you #ClassicStyleGirl. Feminine shapes that accentuate your waist are a stylish but appropriate option that may still be a change from your regular office outfits.
Keep It Modest
Again, this is a party for and with all the people you see between the 9-5 hours so make sure to keep it modest. This really can boil down to three things: hemline, neckline, and material. Keep the hemline at the knee, no plunging necklines, and just say no to sheer. In other words, If you wouldn’t wear it to work, don’t wear it to a work party.
Personal story: My company party was a couple weekends ago and a woman went up to receive an award from the CEO. However she could barely make it up the stairs without holding the hem of her (very short) dress down as it was riding up and we almost saw up her skirt. I’m pretty sure all the VPs had a great view as they were sitting right at the stage. Needless to say, don’t be that girl.
But Don’t Forget the Sparkle!
Now just because it’s a work party doesn’t mean you can’t add some sparkle! Adding great jewels can spice up any neckline. And don’t forget your shoes! Metallic pumps add some holiday shine to just about any party outfit, work appropriate or not!
