Happy New Year babes! I took a couple weeks away from my keyboard to enjoy the holidays with my family and loved ones. But here we are in a brand new year so it’s time to share some New Year’s resolutions with you gorgeous gals. Some of these are personal but feel free to join me in many of these New Year resolutions as you wish!
Psst! I promise none of these have anything to do with working out or losing weight…
LESS (blank), MORE (blank)
less screen time, more face to face time
It’s true, I’m one of those annoying millennials who is (almost) always on their phone. I won’t during meal times (or at work, duh) because a girl’s got to draw the line somewhere, but I will be on my phone for most of my leisure time. Not only is this a huge distraction technique to actually accomplishing anything, but it also diminishes the value of the people who are living around you. I want to have more face to face time rather than face to screen time.
less noise, more music
I love classical music but I haven’t been fostering that side of myself in the past few years. This year I want more music, more trips to the symphony, and more opera! I’m happy to say that I’m already working on this one as La Traviata will be playing here in Seattle and I might just have tickets.
less Insta, more living
I have a bad case of letting Instagram run my life. Nothing has proven that to me more than the past two weeks Instagram free. It’s essentially the comparison game we’ve all heard about. Who’s decorations are prettiest, who’s adventure was better, who’s Christmas card was cuter. Maybe if I stopped worrying about what everyone else is doing, I’ll actually be able to live my own awesome life rather than try to live up to other peoples.
less caffeine, more water
We all know that we should drink more water but it’s just so easy to let that water heat up and run through some coffee beans first. This, sadly, removes the whole hydrating part to drinking water. Especially over the holidays, I sank into an old habit of thinking that drinking more coffee/diet Coke would solve all my exhaustion issues when really all I needed was a decent night’s sleep and a gallon of what to feel better. 2017=project hydration!
less shopping, more saving
We all know I love to shop. But I want to look ahead in 2017 and not just plan on saving more, but actually save more. I don’t make huge purchases on any regualr basis but little expenses can add up. I want to take a good hard look at my coffee/nail/hair/etc habit that is probably costing me more than I ever give it credit.
less clutter, more calm
It’s amazing how much stuff one person can accumulate. I cleaned out my closet of old clothes that I don’t wear or don’t fit me before Thanksgiving and walked away (as in to Goodwill) with over four garbage bags of stuff. All the stuff added additional clutter to our home, which only made it feel more cramped and disorganized that it needs to me. I have resolved to live with less in 2017.
less work, more travel
Andrew and I have talked about how we want to travel and see the world. However as two people who work full time and one who is also getting a Master’s degree, traveling especially together hasn’t been a priority the past few years. 2017 will be different! We already have a handful of trips planned and several more big adventures in the works and I can’t be more excited.
less trends, more style
As far as style goes, I want 2017 to be all about honing my personal style. You may have heard me talk about classic style here on Northwest Blonde, but I really want to dig into what that means to me. You know it will include chunky knits and red lipstick though because some things just aren’t going to change!
Happy 2017 babes! I hope that this new year brings plenty of joy and happiness into your life and removes a little of the stress. I hope you’ll stick with me here on Northwest Blonde and follow along with my adventures, style, and adventures in style! Here’s to you!

Love this black, grey, beige combo and such great resolutions! I like the less insta more living – we get way too wrapped up in social media!

I love these resolutions. They’re honestly all brilliant. I definitely need more face time and to meet up with friends in real life. I’ve been spending way too much time on my computer/ phone lately. Its funny how it actually kind of seems hard to meet people now-a-days (maybe its just me).
