If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I’ve developed a certain thing with the color yellow. As in, I wear it all the time. That’s mainly because Seattle has had the longest wettest winter on record but we’ll get to that later. I know yellow isn’t some people’s favorite color to wear but I’m here to convince your why you should be wearing yellow even if you don’t think it’s your color. And guess what? We’ll do it without looking like a bumblebee!
WHY YOU SHOULD WEAR YELLOW
IT’S MOOD BOOSTING
Like I said above, Seattle has had the longest and wettest winter on record. After a while everything just looks grey and you feel grey. After talking to a friend of mine, she told me about color therapy and how wearing different colors can actually affect your moods. I’ve heard this before but thought it was total bogus but I decided to give it a try regardless. I embraced the color yellow and create my own sunshine. And you know what? It worked! Just wearing the color made me feel a little brighter and less down in the dumps about all the rain.
CREATE YOUR OWN SUNSHINE
Being surrounded with the color, you can’t help but feel like you’re in a ray of sunshine. I’d fill our house with yellow flowers just to get their cheery vibes that we weren’t seeing outside. This is important up north but all of you how have inversions during the cooler months, the affects are the same. Even if you’re just feeling depressed.
When you wear yellow you also act as sunshine to others! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn yellow and had people come up and compliment me or just give me a smile. It’s probably partially because the color is always noticeable but a smile’s a smile!
LOOK MORE TAN!
Wearing yellow can make you look more tan! Similar to the color white, yellow will make all your summer tans pop because of the contrast to it’s bright light state. And who doesn’t want to look more tan?!
HOW TO WEAR YELLOW
Now if you’re looking at me and thinking “I’m not crazy like you Ana Luiza. I don’t want to look like Big Bird.” You don’t have to wear the color head to toe (I realize that I’m the exception) to benefit from the color boost. There are tons to ways to wear yellow without it being over the top. You could add just a yellow top, like the one I’m wearing today, for a little pop of color over denim.
Now if you do want to go the head-to-toe route, here are some ideas for you to try!
ACCESSORIZE
My favorite way to test out a new color trend is to always accessorize first! It’s easy to spend under $20 and get accustomed to the new shade. I’m loving this little crossbody bag that would be perfect in the summer months as well as this statement necklace for work.
EMBRACE LEMON PRINT
Lemon print everything is going to be super “in” for summer so get a leg up now. It’s the perfect way to wear some yellow and have a darling outfit in the process. Seriously though, if its got lemon print, it’s adorable. I’ve yet to be proven wrong!
HAVE IT IN YOUR HOME
Ok so maybe you’re REALLY against wearing the color, you can still spice up your home or office with hints of the sunshine shade and still reap the rewards. I love this trinket try and these vase fillers (for when flowers aren’t available). If anything, just surround yourself with gorgeous yellow blooms for an instant mood boost (like I did here). I’ve been constantly buying yellow tulips for the past three months now.
STILL ON THE FENCE? TRY GOLD!
Now if you’re really still on the fence, try the next closest thing – gold! That is a color all us ladies can get behind, right 😉 Just try adding a touch of gold jewelry and see if you don’t walk a little taller and smile a little more.

I used to hate wearing yellow. I tried it again a few years ago, and I’ve finally found a shade of it that looks good on me! Pale yellow.
Bright pops of color can definitely help brighten your mood ?
I LOVE this look!! You look gorgeous in yellow. Beautiful top, and great tips!
