Wrap dresses are a classic staple and should be in all women’s wardrobes. This is a fashion truth, according to yours truly.
However when it comes right down to wearing a true wrap dress (not the faux find you slip overhead, then simply tie in a bow), you may want to heed this warning. While you will look stylish and oh so chic, you may be bearing a little more leg than expected.
Here’s the backstory on how I learned this the hard way.
I wore this lovely navy wrap dress for most of the weekend. It was easy to slip on when I had to run to the store or head out to dinner (I spent most of this weekend in grubby work clothes either painting our guest bathroom or working in the garden). I dressed it up with these summer sandals for date night and dressed it down with ankle boots and a denim jacket for some quick errands. As you walk, the hem flutters and occasionally you see a little extra leg but nothing noteworthy.
However.
Sunday afternoon a stiff breeze picked up. Suddenly every step was in danger of going from a hint of knee to a whole lot more. There were a couple moments when I’m pretty sure the fine folks of downtown got a good look at the color of my underwear. The problem with walking from grocery store to car with no free hands to hold your skirt down/together means that a family of five is witness to my wardrobe malfunction when the skirt part of my dress was picked up by the breeze and flew open. All the way open.
Needless to say next time, I’ll be wearing slip shorts underneath.
Have you ever had a cringe worthy wardrobe malfunction? Let me know in the comments so I can groan about them with you
Until next time,
