Hey babes! I’m thinking of starting a new Workwear Wednesday type of series. Would that interest you guys? I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how much of my time is actually spent in a business casual/office appropriate attire versus “fun clothes”. Sadly it’s about 5-2 with work wear winning. Let me know in the comments if you’d like to see work ready outfits on a more regular basis.
Which gets us into today’s topic of the desk to date night outfit. I’ve talked about how I have a capsule wardrobe that I use for the office and I enjoy seeing just how many ways I can wear a single piece, like this LBD, without repeating a look. While I love the challenge of not repeating an outfit, I definitely have a formula that works for me every time. It goes a little something like this (#fashionmakesmathfun):
dress + belt + print + jewelry
If you start to look (too) closely, you’ll see that I use this combination all the time.
Why does it work for both work and date night?
Here’s the breakdown as I see it:
The dress can be anything that suits your situation: fun, flirty, feminine, the list goes on
The belt defines your shape (hello instant hourglass) and creates shape with any dress
With a solid colored dress the print it a must to add interest.
The finishing touches are jewelry that add a bit of sparkle and shine to your outfit.
These are just the pieces you need but each one is variable to whatever you are dressing for. An LBD is always a win. During the day wear this combo with summer wedges or walkable flats and a functional tote. Swap out your shoes, bag, and lipstick (if you’re me) and you are set to go for date night!
What is your go-to desk to date night outfit? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
Ana Luiza
