Since we are now in September, I’m starting to notice more elements of fall every day. The leaves are changing, it’s cool in the mornings, and PSLs are just about everywhere. While most people think of fall and immediately their minds go to boots, scarves, and sweaters, there are some underappreciated fall transition pieces you should give some love to this autumn.
Underappreciated Summer to Fall Transition Pieces
1) Sleeveless Knits
On Friday, I talked about the advent of Knits Season. The sleeveless knit is generally one of the first pieces to come out and I always remember how much I love it! In the form of a sleeveless shell or cowl neck top, these knits are perfect pieces for fall that don’t get nearly as much love as they deserve. You can wear them with jeans, tucked into a skirt, or to the office

2) Leather Skirts
While lots of the time feminine style can lean a little girlish, leather skirts bring some edge back into your looks without going overboard. You can find faux leather options at great price points that are office appropriate and totally trendy without being either scandalous or completely boring. These pleated ones are two great fall trends in one!

3) Vests
Fall means we’re all starting to play with layers again and vests are an excellent third piece to consider. Especially if you live in warmer climates, long line vests are a great way to wear a third piece without adding too much warmth or bulk. And likewise, a long wool vest adds both visual interest and some warmth for all of you stylish ladies in the north.

4) darker lipstick
Yes, lots of you may already know fall is a great time to start breaking out the berry colored lipstick. However, purple lipstick (let’s call a spade a spade) isn’t for everyone. If you don’t want to rock ‘MAC Rebel’ with the best of them, you always have the option to just deepen up your favorite shade. I’m more of a red person so in the fall I switch from hot tomato reds for summer to deep blood reds for the fall through the holidays.
