A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to partner with one of my favorite stores, TJ Maxx, to take over their Instagram Stories. My mission? To shop for versatile work-to-weekend looks for under $50. Since Instagram Stories are only available for 24 hours, I thought to share those looks here with you today.
The first item I found was this blue and white striped button up. For the work look, I paired it with blue trousers and a pair of pumps both also from TJ Maxx and under $50. I made the shirt weekend-ready by adding my blue jeans and a pair of slip-on sneakers I found in the shoe section. I LOVE the TJ Maxx shoe section.
This entire look is all from TJ Maxx and under $50. This bow blouse ended up coming home with me and I may have been tempted to go back for the knit tank. I love a knit tank as a beach coverup and wanted to see if I could incorporate it into an office-friendly outfit. Maybe if it were in a different color it would be here with me now.
Another item that came home with me for under $25 was this polka dot skirt. It’s a full wrap skirt with a flattering cross body ruffle. That topped with the bow blouse made for another cute work office outfit. I can also see myself wearing this skirt for date night paired with a lace or silky cami and strappy heeled sandals.
Finally, I snagged this LBD off the clearance rack for under $20! I paired it with heels then played around with different color skinny belts (3 pack for $7.99 I think) to give it a different look.
I try to make sure that I can wear an article of clothing at least three ways before it comes home with me. This way I know that I’m getting the most bang for my style buck in every sense of the word. I find that creatively layering really helps when trying to find new ways to wear something for work or on the weekend (whichever is the not obvious option). This Maxx50Challenge really was a great way to see just what my creative style muscles in store on the fly.
Do you shop at TJ Maxx? What are your criteria when you’re shopping? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
Ana Luiza
