So I have a bunch of products that I use all the time in my day-to-day life that I’ve never shared with you guys. This is mainly because this blog is fashion, style, and beauty focused but I still feel like I’m holding out on you ladies. These products are the bomb.com and I regularly talk my coworkers/friends/lady-in-the-grocery-store-line ears off about them so why haven’t I shared with you guys? Well that ends now!
Today I’d like to introduce a new mini-series here on Northwest Blonde called Random Sh*t I Can’t Live Without. I’ve broken it down into several different categories like Home, Office, Travel, Hair, etc. but let me know if there are any other categories you’d like to hear about. I’m more than happy to share. And without any further adieu, here’s all the home appliances I can’t live without
Random Sh*t I Can’t Live Without: Home Edition
1)Electric Kettle
This was a gift from our wedding registry that we use Every. Single. Day. I had no idea when we got it just how much we’d use it. My husband Andrew used it to make coffee French press style in the morning and I, while I don’t drink coffee, use it for tea in the evenings. There aren’t many appliances that get this amount of use in our household but this electric kettle is one of them
2)Cast iron skillet
Another wedding gift from our registry that never leaves the counter top, or stove top in this case, is our cast iron skillet. Before we were married, Andrew had one but we lost it moving. This replacement has been just as well loved as that last one (and it shows). As vegetarians, cooking on a cast iron is one of the easiest ways to get extra iron in our diets. We cook at least one meal a day on this cast iron for that reason but also because it is one of the better quality pans we own.
3)Milk Frother
This was one of the first ever birthday presents I gave to Andrew early on in our relationship and he still uses it every single day when making his coffee. Now I only use it when I want to get fancy with some hot chocolate but in my coffee drinking days, I also loved this little machine to death. It makes lattes and cappuccinos without a huge amount of hassle or that much time to be honest. Plus it will froth soy and almond milk, which is hard even with a standard espresso machine.
4)Instant Pot
Ok so we don’t actually have an Instant Pot because we’ve had this automatic pressure cooker by Cusinart for over five years now (aka before Instant Pot was a thing). And it may be the most used appliance in our house. You can honestly make just about anything in this thing. Again since we’re vegetarians we make beans in it every week but I’ve also made risotto, soups, rice, popcorn you name it. Just google you favorite dish with Instant Pot and someone has probably figured out how to do it. I love it! You can cook just about anything in half the time. Just what this 9-to-5er likes to hear.
5) Rabbit ear antenna
Yes, we have old school rabbit ears antennas. Not so old school that they look like this but no, we don’t have cable. When I first moved in with Andrew he, knowing just how much I love Saturday Night Live, went out and bought these rabbit ears so I could watch my show live versus 48 hours later over the internet. We still have them and still watch SNL weekly. We also occasionally go wild and also watch 60 Minutes or PBS Newshour as well. 😉
