A little something you don’t know about me but I’m terrible at wrapping gifts. Anytime I touch wrapping paper it looks like an elephant tried to wrap it. Crinkled paper, tape everywhere, it’s generally a mess. You’ll rarely get a beautifully wrapped gift from me since we are all about the gift bags in our household.
Since I can’t be the only person in this boat, I figured I’d create a little gift guide of presents that don’t require any wrapping at all. Enjoy!
Gifts That You Don’t Have to Wrap
Magazine Or Newspaper Subscriptions
If you have an avid reader in your life, consider giving them a years worth of their favorite magazine or newspaper subscription. I feel like this is a great Dad gift. I’ve gifted my father the New York Times, the Economist, and he’s also received the New Yorker magazine. Plus there is a magazine or newspaper for every hobby now. Fashion to fishing, backpacking to boating, there really is something for everyone.
Groupons
Groupons are a nice way to gift experiences to people. From lux spa days to helicopter lessons to distillery tours and full on vacations, you can find a ton of options on Groupon. This is a great option if you don’t want to gift things but memories instead. They also have an option where you can select which day the Groupon will be emailed to the person! This makes it a great last minute gift as well. I’m thinking about getting my husband helicopter flight lessons or sailing lessons this year.
Donations
If there is a cause that you know a loved one feels strongly about, why not make a donation in their name? Most organizations have an option to donate in someone’s name and then will send them, not you, the thank you. Another option for donations would be to buy farm animals from an organization like World Vision.
Museum Memberships
Another gift you don’t have to wrap that keeps on giving is museum membership. This one is a favorite of my mom. She gives memberships to the zoo or the children’s museum to families with small kids regularly.
Subscription Services
Piggybacking on memberships, you can now gift people subscription services. This can be anything from a year’s worth of Amazon Prime (yes, you can gift that as a gift) to a beauty box subscription to the wine of the month. Basically anything where they’ll get a little package in the mail every month.
Gift Cards
I know that it can be controversial whether you should give someone a gift card but my take is why not say “here’s a treat on me”. Gift cards can be to a store or a restaurant but it let’s loved ones have all the fun of shopping or a night out without worrying too much about the cost.
I hope this list will spark some ideas for you! Let me know in the comments if you are team gift bag or team wrapping paper?
Until next time,
Ana Luiza
