Today’s blog post was actually an idea from one of you ladies via my reader survey (which you can still fill out btw). Like most of you (I’m guessing), I don’t have an infinite shopping budget so I try to be thoughtful in what I purchase and what fashion trends I follow. However, there is the occasional miss. An item I think I’ll wear but it gets lost in the back of my cluttered closet. The occasional impulse buy. Or sometimes I try out a trend and it just isn’t for me.
Today I thought I’d take you all through a couple of those items and trends that I bought into and have some regrets. Have you ever spent money on something only to later regret it? Let me know in the comments!
3 Things I Bought and Regret
Valentino bag
This is probably the biggest one. I love it, it’s beautiful but I just don’t use it.
Why do I regret buying this Valentino bag? Well, it cost a significant amount of money for something that is just sitting in my closet. With expensive items, I really try to think about cost per wear and how much use I’m really going to get out of it. This bag just hasn’t hit the mark and I don’t see that changing in the future. I’ve been on the fence about selling it for over a year now but can’t get myself to actually pull the trigger.

Cold Shoulder Anything
The cold shoulder trend was something that I tried out but it just wasn’t for me. I live in a cold climate so sweaters with cutouts aren’t practical plus you may have noticed that I dress fairly conservatively. Clothing with cutouts, lots of skin showing, or anything overly tight isn’t normally for me and never have been so I have no idea why I thought I’d like this trend. At least I only purchased a few cold shoulder items all of which I later re-sold.

Athleisure
Seriously, who was I kidding when I wore athleisure. I love high heels, red lipstick, and generally feminine preppy style so why did I try wearing leggings and tennis shoes? Beats me. Regardless, this was one style experiment to file under “never need to try again.” It’s so NOT me!

A couple of other trends that I tried which I regret are platinum blonde hair (it took years to recover the damage to my poor fried hair), high top sneakers (again, what?), and anything bell sleeved (they just drag in everything). I’m sure there are more but those are the ones that come first to my mind.
What are your fashion trend regrets? Commiserate with me in the comments!
Until next time,
Ana Luiza
This is such a fun post idea! I also regret the “cold-shoulder” trend and many other purchases to date.
Can’t wait to see you tonight!
