If you’ve been following along then you know that I’ve been transitioning to clean skincare and beauty products over the past year and a half. Long story short, I was pregnant and wanted to do better for my body so I started looking into everything I was putting into and onto my body. Fast forward to the present and I’ve successfully transitioned almost all of my skincare to clean alternatives and now it’s time to start looking into my makeup.
Well when REN Clean Skincare offered to send me their Perfect Canvas Clean Primer, I jumped at the chance. Here is my first step into clean makeup!
REN Perfect Canvas Clean Primer Review
Let’s jump right to the chase. Overall, I really like it. I’ve been wearing it consistently for over two weeks and so far so good. You can see me applying it on my IGTV 5-Minute ‘Mom’ Makeup video. I like that the product is silicone-free but still feels smooth on my skin both when I apply it an underneath my makeup. Plus the packaging is both beautiful and functional and even recyclable.
Application
Since the primer comes with a dropper, all you need to apply is 2-3 drops. I like to put it onto my fingers then press it into my skin. I mainly focus on the T-zone of my face but the product is for all over the face. It doesn’t feel heavy either, which I really like. I don’t like beauty products in general that make my skin or hair feel dirty after I apply them. This clean primer isn’t in that category since it blends and absorbs into the skin fairly quickly.
Wear Test
I normally wouldn’t bother to wear primer on any average day. I used to save it for photoshoot days or special events. However, since I’ve been trying out this REN primer I’ve been wearing primer almost every day with my basic makeup look. I have to say I’ve been surprised at how well my makeup lasted throughout the day with the primer versus without it. Even Andrew noticed one day that my makeup hadn’t rubbed off my face by the time he got home from work (he didn’t say those words more like something along the lines of “you look pretty” which generally means my makeup still looks fresh)
Pricepoint
This product was sent to me to review but it normally retails for $45. This seems pretty average for a high-end primer. You get 1oz/30mL which is also fairly standard. I think for a clean beauty product the price is also around average. I imagine that this bottle will last me six months or so if I keep up with daily wear.
Where to Buy It
You can find the Perfect Canvas Clean Primer on the REN website as well as at the Dermstore, and Sephora
Would you try a clean primer? What are your favorite clean makeup products? I’m dipping my toe into that world and would love your suggestions!
Until next time,
