Ho Ho Home for the Holidays was the alternate working title of this blog post. Ridiculous but I love it!
I feel like people fall into two camps. Those who decorate for the holidays before Thanksgiving and those who wait until afterward. I’ve always been firmly in the wait until after Thanksgiving camp but this year since it is falling so late, I’ve been tempted to start decorating early.
I like the idea of incorporating just a couple of new pieces to add some festive holiday cheer. However, home decor related things are not my strong suit. Not only do we not have the space to go all out North Pole but it’s also just not within our budget. We’d rather spend that money on things that will last us for a long time that we can enjoy year-round rather than things that will be in storage most of the year. Affordable and small scale tends to be our overall theme.
So in that vein, I started hunting around the web a couple of days ago for some affordable holiday home decor that I might incorporate into our living room in the coming weeks. Everything you see here is under $40 and on my wish list.
As our current Christmas decor is red and gold, for the most part, I like to stick to those color schemes along with the more traditional red and green plaids that are so popular this time of year. This year, I’m looking to add a garland across our mantle that Andrew remodeled and some faux Holly branches in vases on either side as well.
