Yes, winter trench coats are a thing. At least in Seattle, they are.

I’ve had my trusty old J.Crew trench coat for years but I’ve finally invested in a new one that I can wear for three seasons. My old faithful couldn’t deal with lots of rain, is ripped in a bunch of places, and is looking really well-loved. It’s time to move on to greener pastures my friend. We had a great run.

Now, this new coat is lovely. Completely water-resistant, a must in a place like Seattle, it has a removable hood, and the kicker, it has a removable quilted liner for extra warmth in the colder months! Now it’s not a quilted liner that will keep you warm in winter in the midwest. Or the East coast. You guys will have to live with only wearing this coat two seasons instead of three like we over on the west coast. But for a west coast winter, the lining is just the thing.

It’s seriously so nice! I’ve had other London Fog coats and they always are top-notch when it comes to quality, that’s why I was ok paying a little bit more for this one than I normally would. Well, friends, you don’t even have to do that! My winter trench coat is on sale for 50% off making it only $100. Sizes are going fast so jump if you’re looking to snag a great coat at an AMAZING price!

As far as sizing goes, I’m wearing a small but I probably could have gone with a medium. It’s not overly tight in the shoulders or anything like that. I’m able to wear this coat with a bulky sweater underneath and it’s not uncomfortable. As a very averaged height person (5’5″), I like were the sleeves hit me. I normally end up cuffing my sleeves on most coats because I find them to be a bit too long for me. This trench doesn’t have that problem but if I’d sized up, it probably would be an issue.

Why own a trench at all? Well, it’s a classic style staple that will never go out of style. Seriously, I have my grandmother’s old Burberry trench from 40 years ago and it still is just as stylish as ever. I also always travel with a trench coat. One part for functional reasons (it’s really just a fancy raincoat) and one part for aesthetics. As I said, you’ll never look like a try-hard with a trench coat.
