This has become an annual tradition here on NWBlonde! Instead of a year in review (I actually wrote a short one last week), I share my year in clothes. Specifically, the clothes that I wore over and over again.
This year has been my most casual in a long time. Between having a baby and transitioning to stay-at-home-mom life, I haven’t had much reason to wear high heels and pencil skirts. I was all about the comfy tops and easy jeans for a majority of the year. Ah well, our lives grow and change and so our wardrobes have to follow along as well.
Here are my most worn pieces of 2019 and little mini-reviews for each. Most of these items have full in-depth reviews if you are interested in learning more.
Abercrombie & Fitch Skinny Jeans
These were a great postpartum find thanks to MK at Gold Hatted Lover. They only cost me $40 and are really nice stretchy jeans. High waisted enough to hold in the mom belly but with enough stretch that I can squat down and pick up my baby without having to adjust them. I’m still thinking that I’ll go back for another pair in a different color. I’m wearing the size 27 short for an ankle-length fit without having to get them hemmed.
J.Crew Chambray Bow Pants
These were my go-to summer pants. I loved that they were so soft and thin so that I never got to warm wearing them. I was able to dress them up with heels and dress them down with sandals so I got tons of wear out of them throughout the summer. I really liked that they were especially forgiving during my postpartum period too. You can read a full review here
J.Crew Sweater Blazer
Forever Favorites right here! I got my first one in 2018 and have since repurchased it in two other colors. I love these so much because they are part blazer and part cardigan all in one cozy bundle. Plus they are super versatile. I regularly wore them when I worked in an office but now that I’m a stay at home mom, I still wear them at least once a week. Read the full review here
J.Crew Long Sleeve Stripe Shirt
This was my go-to shirt for the summer months. I basically wore it every day that is was available to me and (mostly) clean. It’s on the thinner side so it pairs nicely with shorts and skirts if you want to be covered up on top but not overheat too much. I also really liked traveling with it this year because it handles being shoved into a bag alright and makes for an easy layer.
32 Degree Base Layer
While I wore the J.Crew long sleeve top in the spring and summer, these 32-degree base layers are what I reach for in the fall and winter. I normally layer them under sweaters but the black ones I also wear just like a regular shirt. It’s not too transparent so I feel alright wearing it alone.
J.Crew Tissue Turtlenecks
Another fall and winter favorite are these tissue turtleneck shirts. They are another shirt that are great alone or layered underneath sweaters. I have an entire review on these tissue turtlenecks here. I have a couple of pairs that I keep in my regular rotation.
Madewell Frances Loafers
These are probably my most worn shoes of 2019. They basically became my “everyday shoes” until it was too cold to go out without socks on. I have an entire review fo them here. They are comfortable loafers that basically go with everything else in my wardrobe. Nice enough to make me feel dressed up but they are still, at their core, just really comfortable flats.
J.Crew Eyelet Top
I almost forgot to include this top because it was a favorite of the spring and summer. I originally purchased the white version of this eyelet top then in the early fall, they launched new colors. Since I’d worn my white one so often, I was able to justify getting the yellow version. The yellow version I wore well into the fall. I can’t wait to break this shirt out again once it’s warm enough. I have reviews on both the yellow and the white versions.
Old Navy Elevate 7/8 Leggings
These came late in the game but are probably one of my favorite finds of 2019. You are going to get sick of hearing me talk about these but I am in LOVE! They are the nicest workout leggings I’ve ever worn for the best price. I already have two pairs and I can’t stop singing their praises. Buttery soft with just the right amount of compression and support. Plus they are available in three different inseams which I’ve never seen in athletic clothing.
