If your hair is brittle, dry, prone to breaking, or just needs some serious TLC, I have the $4 product that will change your life. Sounds like I am some snake-oil salesman but OMG this stuff is amazing! I’m talking about the Pantene Intensive Rescue Shots.
I heard about these little tubes of gold from Kelly in the City a couple of months ago. She has a lot of the same hair complaints that I do – thin, fine, bleached blonde hair and we’re a little addicted to hot tools. Plus we both were going through postpartum hair loss around the same time. It’s not a cute look. Since they are only $4, I figured why not give it a try? Kelly’s hair has been looking extra shiny and luscious in her blog pictures so what could it hurt. Oh my God! Miracle, literally a hair miracle!
After the very first use, my hair was so smooth and soft and my comb basically glided through it. Tangles and knots were non-existent. It blowdried like a dream. I was in shock. Please I beg you, go try the Pantene Intensive Rescue Shots if your hair just needs extra love this winter.
Pantene Intense Rescue Shots Review
How Do You Use It?
It’s seriously so easy to use. I just shampoo and condition my hair like normal then apply the product from the ponytail down to the ends (so mid-shaft to ends). Leave it for a couple of minutes, then rinse it out. And that’s it! The package doesn’t even say that you have to leave it in at all but I’ve had good results leaving it in my hair the same amount of time I’d leave regular conditioner.
I only use the Pantene Rescue Shots once a week and I get two uses out of each capsule. Mind you I have long hair but it’s quite fine and thin so it doesn’t take a ton of product for it to be totally saturated. The rest of the week, I’ll wash my hair with the Pantene 3 Minute Miricle Daily Moisture and that keeps the softness and shine going throughout the week.
I’ve noticed that I’m letting my hair air dry much more often now that I’m using these Pantene products because it won’t be as frizzy when I let it just do its thing. Before, I always blowdried my hair because otherwise, my cowlicks would be uncontrollable and it was frizz city.
How Does It Compare to Oleplex?
Since I became a mom, my “princess-time” as Andrew used to call it (aka at-home primping) has been drastically shortened. This means that I haven’t used my tried-and-true Oleplex in ages because it needs to sit in your hair for upwards of an hour then be rinsed out. These Pantene Intensive Rescue Shots are a great replacement since I can use it while I’m in the shower, no extra timed needed.
However, as far as results go, I have to say that I like the Pantene Rescue shots more that I like Oleplex. (I feel like I’m betraying Oleplex by saying that). I think that you just get so much more bang for your buck that there really isn’t a huge competition. Granted if your hair is really really fried and needs lots of work upfront, I think that Oleplex might be your better option. I know that when my hair was a platinum mess, Oleplex really helped salvage it both during my hair color appointment and at-home afterward.
But again, $30 versus $4. And it’s almost the same amount of product. Also, one I can buy during my regular grocery run and the other requires an extra trip to Sephora (not that that’s any hardship mind you. It’s just an extra step.)
Overall, I think that I’ll keep having my hairstylist use Oleplex when she is coloring my hair but I will use the Pantene Rescue Shots exclusively at home.
Have you tried the Pantene Intensive Rescue Shots yet? Once you’ve tried them out, let me know how you like them. I bet you’ll be hooked!
