A couple of weeks ago, we gathered to celebrate my good friend Megan‘s bachelorette party. I brought you guys along on Instagram but wanted to share some more of the details about where we went and stayed. While it was a great bachelorette party, our itinerary would make for a fun Seattle staycation weekend or quick getaway trip. We were right in the thick of downtown and within easy walking distance to all the top tourist landmarks.
The weekend started off at the Kimpton Alexis Hotel where we gathered for champagne toasts, snacks, and gifts. A spacious suite had been generously gifted for the occasion and easily housed all 20 of us for a little cocktail hour. I can’t say that I know much about Seattle hotels given that I live here and don’t often have cause to spend the night away from home. However, I now know that the Kimpton Alexis is stunning. Online it is described as “PNW luxurious” which seems fitting given all the exposed brick, brass, deep green velvet, and leather used in the decor. The building is originally from 1901 and they kept some of that old vintage feel but with a modern spin. Everything that I saw and experienced was absolutely lovely. Honestly, they had me at the hot cocoa bar in the lobby with all possible topping options then with the floor to ceiling windows. Those two things are the way into my heart apparently.
From there we walked to dinner at the Steelhead Diner right at the mouth of Pike Place Market. Dinner was delicious and like usual, I never have any pictures of my food because I devoured it before I remember to snap any pictures #neverafoodblogger. Several other women at dinner mentioned how they had attended other work dinners or rehearsal dinners at the Steelhead Diner. They have an intimate banquet room in the back of the restaurant that easily sat our group of 15.
On top of the delicious food, it was also phenomenal service. The restaurant assigned a member of the wait staff to stand by in our room so we never had to wait for them to come to check on us. Also, very few restaurants are willing to have separate checks for a group that large. It was either planned ahead of time because we were all presented with separate checks at the end of our meal, no fuss, no muss. I also have to say the Steelhead Diner went above and beyond. While it was Megan’s bachelorette weekend, it was also two other women’s birthdays in our group. The wait staff presented all three ladies with champagne upon arrival and chocolate cake for dessert on the house.
After dinner wrapped up, we Ubered over to our main destination of the night, Keys on Main. About a 10-minute drive (or less) from downtown, Keys on Main is a dueling piano bar where two pianists play audience suggestions all night long. It’s a really fun show. I’d never been before but I already want to go back and bring Andrew. The two performers are amazing musicians and played and sang an amazing variety of songs from R&B, Rap, Classic Rock, Disney, and just about everything else in between. If you’ve never been, I’d recommend that you make a night of it (and I do mean night. The show runs from 9pm – 1am).
Keys on Main was very fun for a bachelorette or birthday because they have the person go up and sit on the piano while they makeup and sing a song about them on the fly. Aside from our group, there was one other bachelorette group and two birthday party groups that night. Each person got to go up at one point or another during the night and was serenaded. Disclaimer that all the songs ended up being on the raunchy side, especially the bachelorette songs, Megan’s included.
After getting our fill of live music, we finished up the night just down the street at Ozzie’s, a karaoke dive-bar, and Seattle staple. Ozzie’s has almost everything under one roof. Karaoke, a large bar, and two dance floor areas playing different types of music. We didn’t stay at Ozzie’s very long but it did bring back memories of my college days when I lived in the Queen Anne neighborhood and would occasionally go to Ozzie’s or other similar establishments in the area with friends.
We wrapped up the night and headed back to the Alexis Hotel. We gathered again in the suite for drinks (water this time) and snacks before turning in for the night or morning depending on how you define things 😉
Sunday morning started off slowly with room service croissants, coffee, and chocolate-covered strawberries. We got dressed, then made our way over to Pike Place Market for breakfast. The plan was to have breakfast at Lowell’s but when we walked in, we were informed that they were already turning people away because their breakfast was closing. We ended up at Cafe Champagne just outside of the main market for a more traditional French brunch instead.
After brunch, we went back to the Market to buy flowers then headed back to the hotel to check out and say goodbye.
On the way home, Megan and I stopped by KB Espresso for one last cup of coffee. KB Espresso is owned by some friends of mine and they just purchased this coffee stand. I’m so incredibly proud of them! Not only is this a big accomplishment and new venture for them but they also make really delicious drinks. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in downtown or Capital Hill and need a pick-me-up.
From then it was back home to my guys. Overall it was a relaxing, fun weekend with so many friends and just full of joy and laughter. I can’t wait to watch Megan say “I do” in a few shorts weeks and all the celebrations that will follow!
