March 4th, 2014. The day I hit publish on my first ever blog post.
Guys, I’ve been doing this for SEVEN YEARS! That just seems so crazy to me! Semi-recently someone asked me how long I’ve been blogging and I think I said four or five years. I didn’t realize I’ve been at this for so long. (#facepalm)
There’s something to be said for working on something consistently for year after year. I’m not going to go into all that I’ve learned about blogging here today. That can be a separate post if you’re interested in hearing more about that topic. Today I just wanted to go on a little trip down memory lane.
This little journal blog that I started in my college apartment has given me so much over the past seven years. It’s given me some of my closest friends, so many opportunities to work with brands, opportunities to travel, opportunities to learn about photography and develop several new hobbies.
Some highlights in seven years of blogging:
- Little old me went to Fashion Week and saw some of the biggest names in fashion both on and off the runway! More than once. What?!
- Meeting some of my “internet friends” in person
- Earning my first ever commission check from affiliate sales.
- The first time someone told me my blog came up in a Google search (it was this post and this co-worker didn’t even know that I had a blog)
- Being invited to my first ever blogger event
- Reaching out and teaming up with Michelle for Start the Week Stylish linkup, which ran for over three years
- Upgrading from taking pictures on my first-generation iPhone and point-and-shoot camera to a DSLR
- Working on national campaigns with household name brands (Target, Macy’s John Frieda, Jergens to name a few)
Some of you have been coming back and reading my blog for years and for that I have to say thank you! Many, if not most, of those highlights and opportunities, have been because of you. You keep coming back and reading. You click and purchase the items that I’ve recommended. You have grown over the past seven years with me. From college kid to joining corporate America, to getting engaged then married, to buying our first home, to pregnancy and motherhood, you’ve been here with me through it all. And for that I can only say thank you, thank you, thank you!
Here’s to the next seven years and what they may bring!
Awww I loved this post. So many memories
