A little truth about me? I don’t own a single pair of sandals. Last year my favorite (and only) pair died a sad death and I was left without any. Since then I haven’t made a point to get a new pair. I live in Seattle. Summer is really short here and there just wasn’t much cause to spend the time and money on shoes that I don’t wear that often.
Well now we’re on the cusp of summer, having 70 degree plus days, and I’m over here still wearing closed-toe shoes. So I’ve been doing some research into sandals, specifically slides and wanted to share with you. Not my previous MO but now since I’m staying home with Teddy, my daily style has become much more casual. Especially in the era of Covid-19 and stay at home orders. I really am looking for a pair of sandals that I can quickly throw on to go play outside with my kiddo but that I can also wear with casual jeans and dresses for the rest of the summer. I also am also trying to keep the price down so I only am looking at options that are under $150 (all but one pair is actually under $100).
So let’s look at seven different affordable summer sandals
Seven Affordable Summer Sandals
1. Eileen Fisher Elie Sandal
These are the most practical option mainly because they strap on versus being a slide-on sandal. A slight heel makes them a fraction more dressy than completely flat sandals but they are still very much a casual option. Plus they come in a nude color that matches my super pale skin tone.
2. Sam Edelman Gala Two Strap
These Sam Edelman slides are the most simple option. Literally no frills, bells, or whistles. They do come in eight different colors and patterns so you have some options there. I personally really like the brown leather look. These retail for $60.
3. Jack Rogers Lauren
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a pair of Jack Rogers for well over a year now but have yet to take the plunge. I love that they are a preppy classic that will never go out of style. Personally, I like the Lauren style over the standard flat sandal. These are the most expensive of the bunch (the only ones over $100) but you can find select colors and styles on sale on Nordstrom Rack.
4. Madewell Marianna Basketweave
These are the fanciest option that I considered. I really LOVE the basketweave look and wanted something along those lines but my daily life just doesn’t require a heel, even a small one. If these were a completely flat sandal, I’d be onboard 100%.
5. Madewell Meg Slide
I love that Madewell takes the standards and gives them a little twist. These are a beautiful looking sandal that is at the top of my list. They come in four different colorways including rainbow but of course, I’m all about the neutral. These are currently on sale for around 50% off but they normally retail for just under $100.
6. Sam Edelman Bay Cutout
These are a great option if you want a designer look for less. These Sam Edelman slides are a fraction of the price of the Hermes H sandal that has been super popular. Another great look for less option are the Steve Madden Greece Sandal
7. Soludos Woven Slide
Finally, there are the Soludos slides. These make me think of the beach and are the most casual in my option (if slide sandals can be more or less casual). I’ve had really good luck with this brand in the past so it makes me lean toward this as an option.
