I finally bit the bullet and purchased a pair of sandals for the summer. In a past blog post, I’d mentioned that I was looking for something a bit more casual than my past favorites because most of the time I’m simply slipping into a pair of sandals so I can run outside and play with Teddy. Well, I settled on the Jak Rogers Lauren style sandal and I’m pretty happy with my choice. However, there are a few things that I wish I’d known about before I placed my order. I hope that this post will help someone else (maybe one of you) make a more informed decision when ordering their Jack Rogers.
So, are Jack Rogers worth the money and hype? Let’s get into it!
Jack Rogers Lauren Sandal Review
The first thing to know is that these sandals are not the flip-flop style that is the classic Jack Rogers sandal you see up and down the eastern seaboard. The Lauren style is a slip-on slide sandal. They are known to be much more comfortable than the original flip-flop style.
Sizing
You’ll want to size up in these sandals. I’m generally in between a size 7 and 7.5 in most shoes so I ordered my pair in size 7.5. They fit but I probably should have gone with a size 8. So if you are in-between sizes, go up and I’d almost say that you should order half a size larger no matter what.
Why go half a size up? Because these run incredibly narrow. If you have wide feet, you’ll need to look somewhere else because these are not the sandals for you, sorry! My feet are very average, not wide but not particularly narrow either and my toes just fit into the toe strap. It fits but there is some wriggling involved.
Comfort
The classic Jack Rogers are pretty well known for having a super painful break-in process but being comfortable afterward. The Lauren-style sandal piqued my interest because they are supposed to be much more comfortable than the classic style. You can get the Jack Rogers look without any blisters or cuts on your feet.
While I find the Lauren sandals comfortable and easy to walk in, I personally can’t speak to the break-in process because I purchased mine secondhand. They were in like-new condition but had already been broken in with a handful of wears by the previous owners.
Price
Why did I purchase these sandals secondhand? Because they are not the cheapest sandals around. They normally retail for $130 but can be found on sale for around $90-$100, which is still pretty steep for sandals in my opinion. You are paying for real leather sandals and higher-quality manufacturing which I can understand but you’re also paying for a brand name and look.
Personally, I don’t have anything against shopping second-hand. I found these on Poshmark and there were hundreds of other listings for the same style.
Colors
However, if you want a more specific color than brown you may have to purchase these sandals new. Jack Rogers are known for being sandals that come in every hue under the rainbow, including metallics, faux snakeskin, and polka dot.
While you can find Jack Rogers sandals at Nordstrom, Zappos, Macy’s, etc, if you want a specific color you’ll need to head directly to JackRogers.com for a full look of all the colors and personalizations they have available.
