I recently had the opportunity to go through Teddy’s clothes and clear out the ones that don’t fit him anymore and guess what? Almost everything from last winter is too small now. Go figure. So I’m on the hunt for some warmer clothes for the kid.
Over the summer, I realized that H&M sells capsule wardrobes for little kids so I went to go see what their fall selection looks like and it does not disappoint. They are selling a full seven-piece capsule wardrobe that will get you through fall, no problem. There are also five packs of shirts, two packs of knit sweaters, and three packs of pants that all have coordinating color schemes so everything will always look cohesive. It’s fantastic! I can’t recommend H&M Kids to other parents enough especially if you just want a one-and-done solution.
Why H&M? Several reasons. First, they sell reasonably priced kid’s clothing. Most items are under $10 and often go on sale. They also hold up pretty well against the damage of toddler life and stain remover.
Second, they sell kid’s clothes in packs. Another brilliant move I wish other retailers would do. I can get a three-pack of shorts, a five-pack of colored tees, or a set of graphic tops. It’s great! The sets are often in different colors that coordinate well together in a similar color family, like this five-pack of tee shirts which has a matching short set that you can easily mix and match and they will always look coordinated.
Finally, while H&M is a fast-fashion retailer, they are at least trying to move towards sustainable or conscious fashion. Especially since kids grow out of their clothes so fast, and right now I’m not able to shop for second-hand clothing for him (this is my favorite spot in Seattle), I’d rather support a store that is making the move in the right direction.
What’s in My Toddler’s Fall Capsule Wardrobe?
So what’s in Teddy’s fall capsule wardrobe? Well the standard stuff: long pants, long-sleeve tees, sweaters, and a couple of choice outerwear pieces. These lined ‘denim’ joggers look like they’ll be great for keeping him warm as the weather cools. I had similar pairs for him last year too. I also hope to get him a pair of overalls because they are just so stinking cute! These are another great option for corduroy overalls.
I really love knits for the winter months so of course, I love these cute toddler-sized cable knit sweaters. Ted already has two that I rotate between when we go out. I also like that you can get a set of matching knit sweaters for more day-to-day wear.
Toddler Puffer Coats and Rain Coats
Since winter is coming, I’ve been trying to keep my eyes peeled for good cold-weather gear for Ted. This means puffer coats, hats, and rain gear. Last week, I shared a couple of things that friends have recommended to me, specifically when it comes to rain gear.
Winter might look different where you live but for us, a good puffer coat with a sweater and long sleeves can generally combat the cold weather. My mom found an REI puffer coat for Teddy that is the off-brand version of this Patagonia. He already is obsessed with it and asks to wear it constantly, even inside the house. This is a cheaper alternative that will still give you a similar look.
Toddler Boy Shoes
I shared an entire post about practical but still stylish shoes for toddler boys a couple of weeks ago. This year Teddy has a pair of sneakers, his Native shoes until it gets too cold and wet, and his Hunter boots. Next year I’m planning on getting him a pair of Sperry’s for the spring that will (hopefully) last through the following fall.
Am I missing anything? Let me know if you have any great toddler pieces for fall that I should try out!
