Welcome back to the second installment of Taking a Blonde Moment. This is a monthly segment meant to be a more casual and breezy post where I can share things that don’t fit into other blog posts. Articles I’ve read, things I’ve purchased, weekend plans, etc.
A Blonde Weekend
Holy election week Batman! So much happened this week and all under the specter of the election. Starting with Halloween on Saturday (check out my Instagram to see the cutest little Batman), Daylight Savings ended on Sunday (hello darkness my old friend, anyone?), my 30th birthday on Monday, the election on Tuesday, bleeding into Wednesday, into Thursday, and now Friday. Gah!
It was a doozy and way too stressful for my taste. My jaw was so sore on Wednesday from being tense and clenched for over 24 hours. And the worse part was that it was so stormy all week that we couldn’t even get outside to walk the stress off. But the weekend is promising to bring back the sunshine.
I’m also going to see my friends again this weekend. Now that it’s winter, cold, and stormy, gathering with friends takes a bit more planning, strategy, and effort but I hope our plan pans out. Outdoors in November is iffy but we’re going to hazard it.
Take a Moment for Holiday Shopping
We are officially in November so you know what that means! The holidays are here! The Northwest Blonde Gift Shop is also live. You can find all the gift guides here and more are coming. If you want just general holiday posts, click here for those. Other great holiday posts I saw this week:
- Carly from The Prepster has a very in-depth small business gift guide that launched this week. My woman-owned small business round-up is coming on Small Business Saturday but until then, Carly’s post is very detailed and has probably close to 100 options for you.
- Julia of Lemon Stripes published a guide to a more sustainable holiday season. I will 100% be acting on some of her suggestions this year to cut back on our waste.
- I already published two gift guides for you. First is 8 Personalized Gift Ideas (which I’ve since added to) and Clean Beauty Gifts on Sale. The Sephora Holiday Sale runs through the 9th if you want to get deals on beauty gift sets.
Take a Moment to Follow
I’ve started following a lot of UK based Instagram accounts lately. Hill House Vintage was my gateway but now I’m super into all the British cottage decor and lifestyle accounts. They all just look cozy as heck and I can’t get enough of them and their gorgeous architecture and design. A few of my favorites include:
- Hill House Vintage
- Natali in Norfolk
- The Green Eyed Girl
- Welcome to No.1
- LibertyLndGirl (and her dog Lettice)
- Frances Me Hardie
- Livia Astrid
Other UK based accounts I’ve obsessively scrolled lately are of US ex-pats living in London, mainly Mollie Moore and the Blonde Atlas. They seem to live beautiful lives in a beautiful city plus (pre-Covid) they had some seriously enviable travel.
