Today is my 30th birthday. Happy Birthday to me!
There are two types of birthday people: those who don’t want anyone to know and those of us who shout it from the rooftops. Grocery store clerk “How’s your day going?” Me: “Great! It’s my birthday!” Guess which category I fall into…
I contemplated doing a “30 things I learned” or “30 facts about me” type post for about .02 seconds but I won’t bore you with anything like that. What I will say is, going into this next turn around the sun I am the happiest, fulfilled, and most content with who I am as a woman, mother, wife, and friend that I’ve ever been as an adult.
I think it really took becoming a mother to shift my priorities just enough that I really don’t give a f* anymore what outsiders think of me. Knowing that I’m everything to Ted and he’s everything to me allowed me some mental freedom to do what I wanted to do. Take up new hobbies, try new skills, recenter my life in a way that is meaningful to me. Overall life is good and I’m so happy to be right where I am.
But since it is my birthday, will you promise to do something for me? Please vote tomorrow if you haven’t already. While every election is important, this one looks to eclipse all the others in my lifetime and I want all of you to be a part of it.
