Christmas is FRIDAY! Can you believe that we made it? We’re basically done with 2020 because that weird week between Christmas and New Years’ doesn’t really count.
Doesn’t it just feel like a weight is lifting since we’re so close to the end? And with the Covid vaccines starting to be distributed last week, it’s really beginning to feel like the beginning of the end. I know life won’t magically go back to normal on January 1st, 2021 but it will be so nice to see 2020 in the rearview mirror.
I wanted to share a couple more gift guides before we wrap up the Christmas season. Today we’re talking gifts that you don’t have to ship as shipping deadlines have passed. Tomorrow I’ll have my annual really last-minute gift guide.
This year I personally think that service gifts are the way to go. We’ve all been stuck in our homes decluttering, cleaning, and cooking for almost an entire year. Don’t add more stuff after all the decluttering and Home Editing you’ve done this year. Instead, you can take something off someone’s plate, ease the burden if you will, for a couple of days be that through meal delivery or maid service. Anyways, I’ll get off the soapbox for now and let’s get into last minute gifts you don’t have to ship
Gifts You Don’t Have to Ship
Streaming Service
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, give the gift that keeps on giving, and that gift is a streaming service. Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, HBO, all have gift options.
Also with so many movies scheduled for release on HBO Max in 2021, consider it as a gift for any movie lover in your life.
Meal Delivery Service
Who else is totally sick of cooking?! You can easily give someone a break from cooking by giving them a gift card from Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, or Daily Harvest to just name a few options. Another option could be gift cards or credits to UberEats or DoorDash for restaurant meals. Or even Instacart credits if you know they find grocery shopping to be a chore.
Winc Wine Delivery
Maybe just cut straight to the chase and give your friends and family wine delivery because #2020
Magazine or Newspaper Subscriptions
If you have an avid reader in your life, consider giving them a year’s worth of their favorite magazine or newspaper subscription. I feel like this is a great Dad gift. I’ve gifted my father the New York Times, the Economist, and he’s also received the New Yorker magazine. Plus there is a magazine or newspaper for every hobby now. Fashion to fishing, backpacking to boating, there really is something for everyone.
Give a Donation in Their Name
If there is a cause that you know a loved one feels strongly about, why not make a donation in their name? Most organizations have an option to donate in someone’s name and then will send them, not you, the thank you. Another option for donations would be to buy farm animals from an organization like World Vision.
E-Gift Cards
I know that it can be controversial whether you should give someone a gift card but my take is why not say “here’s a treat on me”. Gift cards can be to a store or a restaurant but it lets loved ones have all the fun of shopping or a night out without worrying too much about the cost.
