Pendleton Rain Coat

Pendleton raincoat review

A few weeks ago Teddy and I went and crashed my parent’s vacation on the Washington coast. It was a great little getaway that I didn’t realize I needed until we were there. We hung out at their cabin, went for beach walks, and splashed our feet in the Pacific Ocean. We ended up getting really lucky with the weather too, and it was sunny until the day we left.

Because if there is one thing you have to know about the Washington coast. It’s beautiful but it’s rugged. The landscape and the weather. For that reason, I packed my trusty Pendleton Woolen Mills rain slicker for the occasion. I have had this coat for years and love it because it is ideal for the Pacific Northwest weather. I actually ended up getting quite a few comments about this trusty old coat so I thought I’d share a little bit more details for you here today.

The first thing to know is that Pendleton is based out of Oregon, and everything they make is really suited to the weather we experience in this part of the world. The Pacific Northwest is famous for wet, cold, and grey weather. Where we were staying is just west of the Olympic National Park which is home to the only temperate rainforest in the world meaning this region gets rain and plenty of it. So long explanation aside, I needed a suitable raincoat and Pendleton is the company for the job.

What I love about this Pendleton raincoat specifically:
– it’s a traditional rain slicker coat but there is a flannel lining that makes it shockingly warm too.
– the hood can be rolled up and zipped away into its own compartment
– there are multiple sets of pockets. I use the front pockets to hold my phone and wallet then the side ones for my hands.
– the bright yellow might not be for everyone but I love it because I’m always wearing it on the greyest of days.

This exact coat isn’t currently available (as I said, it’s really old) but you can find the newest version of it here and here.

Pendleton doesn’t just make raincoats. Their main claim to fame is actually these woolen blankets with Native American designs. You can find more of their best sellers on Pendleton.com, Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and Zappos
