I talk a lot about clothes and fashion on this blog but I rarely, if ever, touch on what we wear underneath our clothes. And that is because I am the worst at refreshing my underwear drawer. Mainly my bras. I had been wearing my same old bra for years and after pregnancy, nursing, and post-partum, it was WAY past time for a new bra.
Getting fitted for a new bra ended up being a bit of an ordeal. I tried two other bra and underwear-specific stores and couldn’t find one that fit my post-baby body. I ended up at Nordstrom discouraged and nearly in tears, thinking that there wouldn’t be anything that could properly fit and feel comfortable. A little dramatic, I know. However one of their sales associates found me browsing the bras and took me under her wing. She saw that I was still wearing a nursing bra (a little embarrassing), heard my story, and told me that this is actually an extremely common occurrence.
I ended up in the Natori Underwire Contour Bra. When I say this bra is night and day to my previous setup, I’m not kidding. First, it fits properly. Pretty basic but this was my first time getting fitted for a bra in years, even prior to getting pregnant, and I was a totally different size than before. It also has a feminine design that is pretty but also makes me feel beautiful wearing it.
The only thing I didn’t love about this bra is the price. It retails for $70 which was more than I had planned to spend on undergarments. However, if you think about the price per wear, this bra will more than pay for itself. Another thought about the price. Now that I know my size, I’ll be able to watch for when these go on sale. I’ve heard that they are generally included in Nordstrom semi-annual and anniversary sales.
Below are some other options from Natori that I tried. After my experience with bra fitting at Nordstrom, I’d highly recommend you take yourself in if you haven’t been fitted for a while. It was a good experience, especially after several bad ones.
