Happy National Sunscreen Day! May is skin cancer awareness month and Memorial Day weekend marks the first unofficial weekend in the summer so it seems like a good time for a friendly reminder to wear sunscreen. Every. Single. Day.
I was in the anti-sunscreen crowd for years but several cases of skin cancer in my family have caused me to dramatically change my tune. I’ve gone from an SPF 4 wearer to an SPF 50 kind of person. One of my major gripes around wearing sunscreen was how it felt on my skin and as I got older, how it functioned under my makeup.
Well the one product that totally changed the game for me was Supergoop! sunscreen. This is a company that is only focused on sunscreen and getting the proper SPF onto your skin. They really do take all the barriers out of wearing sunscreen.
Want a clean sunscreen? All their products are clean. Want reef-safe sunscreen? All their products are reef save. Want sunscreen that acts like makeup? Supergoop has a product for that!
I’ve been on the Supergoop! train for a while now. I discovered the brand several years ago and became a die-hard fan when I discovered this product, the Supergoop Mattescreen. It applies like a makeup primer, feels like a makeup primer, functions as a makeup primer but also gives your SPF 40 coverage all day long. It’s fantastic! I honestly can’t say anything bad about it.
Especially for someone like me with oily/combination skin, wearing sunscreen under my makeup used to make my skin turn into a shiny, greasy, oily mess by lunchtime. Now I have a two-in-one product that helps my makeup last all day while protecting me from UV rays.
If you have dry skin and aren’t interested in mattifying sunscreen, don’t leave just yet! Supergoop just launched Glowscreen, which is a sunscreen that acts as a makeup primer but has a pearlescent sheen for a glow from within look. Honestly, I’m interested in trying it as well because anything that can capture a glow without the greasy look is a win by me.
They also have the staple Unseen Sunscreen which is a standard sunscreen that you can use on your face, whether you are going to be wearing makeup or not. It has a pore blurring effect and makes me feel like I’m wearing a filter in real life. This has actually become my go-to for day to day as I don’t always (hahaha make that rarely) wear makeup these days.
Please note that since I last purchased a tube of this sunscreen, Superoop has since changed their packaging. The packaging you see pictured here is the old version of the Mattescreen (previously called “mineral matte”). They also changed their formula to make all their products reef-save so you can wear them in the ocean anywhere in the world.
