Beck and Call Podcast
First up is a new to me podcast by Merrit Beck. Merrit is a blogger that I’ve followed for the better part of a decade and now she has added a podcast to her content lineup. Her podcast is solo hosted for the most part so you really feel like you are catching up with a friend. She starts every episode chatting about her weekend and filling you in on what has been going on with her before diving into the topic of the week. It’s been great for all the hours I’ve spent nursing so I don’t feel so alone.
Absolutely Not Podcast
Another podcast I’ve been loving this month is Absolutely Not with Heather McMahan. I started listening to her podcast during quarantine lockdown and it makes me giggle every time. I have actually been going through her back catalog and catching up on old episodes for extra laughs during my week. Warning though, this one contains language and is not safe for kids.
KonMarie Clean Out
Being home with two kids has caused me to feel very overwhelmed so I’ve been trying to minimize wherever I can. And one giant area that I’ve cut and cut and cut has been my wardrobe. Until very recently, I had been holding on to all my old corporate clothing thinking that one day I’ll need it again. Well, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m no longer in a pencil skirt and high heel season of my life. Letting go of that identity was really hard for a long time but now the moment feels right for a totally fresh start. I did the Marie Kondo style clean-out and drastically reduced the size of my wardrobe as well as all the clothes I had in storage.
While most are going to local consignment stores, I’ve listed quite a few items on my Poshmark and will be adding more next week if you want to shop my actual closet.
Frankie Bean Co. ‘Seattle’ SweatshirtÂ
If it’s clean, it’s on my body. I finally bit the bullet and purchased one of these sweatshirts after six months or so and I love it. It has been ideal for my postpartum/winter hibernation. It’s warm and cozy but doesn’t make me feel sloppy. Something about a crewneck sweatshirt just feels more ‘me’ than anything with a hood attached.
Building Routines
Andrew is back to work after two and a half months of parental leave and I have realized that keeping my sanity with two little kids at home means I need to get organized. Like really organized. So I’ve cleaned out my wardrobe, which I’ve already touched on, but I’m also working on building up routines again. When Violet’s sleep allows, I’ll get up early to workout, shower, and get dressed all before the kids wake up. I’m meal planning again. Basically in every aspect of our lives, I’m working on getting back to a routine so life feels more manageable and consistent.
March’s Magical Moment
Andrew got home from a work trip around mid-morning and so we packed up and went to the University of Washing to enjoy the cherry blossoms. We were there for a couple of hours and just enjoyed the beautiful scenery while getting to spend time as a family. I’ve been plastering the pictures and videos all over my social media because it was pure magic.
