I know I’m a fan of capsule closets and having a defined personal style but there are just times when an article of clothing speaks to your soul and you have to roll with it. This polka dotted jumpsuit makes my soul sing.
I found this jumpsuit last week when outlet shopping with some girlfriends in Palm Springs. I’ve been looking for a jumpsuit for a while and after seeing it across the store (and giving a small prayer to the jumpsuit gods since it looked like a maxi dress on the hanger), I raced over to find a jumpsuit that I knew I had to have. Isn’t it great when those items come along but also are on sale!
One of my personal goals for 2018 was to dress for joy. What do I mean by this? Well, last year I focused on honing in on my personal style rather than focusing on trends. So this year I want to take that one step farther. I wanted to make sure that the items in my closet and the clothes that I put on my body each day give me joy. Either in their color, prints, or style or that they make me feel good but I want joyfulness to be a part of my dressing experience. It just so happens that finding this jumpsuit reminded me of that goal and to check in on my resolutions five months later.
I’m happy to say that I think I’m doing pretty well. Granted it is MUCH easier now that the sun is back and spring is here. I’ve also purged my wardrobe of most of the clothing that I wasn’t wearing. Between local consignment stores, thredup, and Goodwill, I’ve managed to clean out my wardrobe of everything that either a) doesn’t fit b) hasn’t been worn in over two years or finally c) doesn’t make me happy. With everything going on in the world, why on Earth would I allow my clothing to bring me down when there are already so many other factors out there willing to do it too?
Dressing for joy! Let’s make it part of our everyday lives.
Does getting dressed in the morning bring you joy or make you happy? Have you ever experienced the feeling of putting on a danging good outfit and know that nothing can stop you? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,

Yes, yes yes! To all of this! Dress for joy. Every day. There is way too much ugliness in the world to not get pleasure from the little things!

wearing clothes which make you happy feels so simple, and yet I’m sure many of us aren’t managing to even do that. Love this jumpsuit, it’s so adorable on you! Love the vintage Coach bag as well – my favorite.

Thanks Lyddie, Isn’t it crazy that we still aren’t quite there with wearing clothes that make us happy? I honestly thought I was over that after high school but maybe we all need a little reminder sometimes

That’s easily one of the cutest jumpsuits I’ve seen today! I love the polka dot details, really chic and fun. The denim jacket wraps up the whole spring look.
