I’ve let you guys in on a couple different Seattle secrets before and I need to let you know about another one today. While most of the country seems to be gearing up for fall we are still in the height of summer. Here in Seattle, we have WAY more fall and spring than winter or summer but the timing is a little off from the rest of the country. Summer generally starts in July and will run through September. This means we are still looking at temperatures in the 80s and 70s for at least another month.
I’m not complaining about this at all, mind you. I’m a gal who loves the heat and will take sunshine just about any way I can get it. However, this does pose a problem for fall fashions. Ever since early August, I’ve been seeing people preparing for fall style-wise but I’m not even close to breaking out the boots yet (or even long pants for that matter). My solution? Ever so slowly start making some wardrobe swaps.
No, I can’t even begin to image wearing heavy fabrics at this point so all my go-to cold weather sweaters are out but I’ve started making the switch in other ways. I pulled out this favorite fall skirt from last year but instead of pairing it with sweaters and boots, I opted for this lightweight DVF blouse and heels instead.
This is a good office outfit but I’ve also worn a similar combination with jeans in the past and intend to repeat the outfit in the future. Another easy way to start transitioning into pre-fall fashion? You can try to change up your color palette. I’ll do this annually as well. I start swapping out my brights and pastels for more muted tones and other fall-appropriate colors.
How do you prep for fall in your wardrobe? Are you itching to break out the sweaters and layers or are you hanging onto summer with your fingertips? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
Ana Luiza

A beautiful and very elegant outfit! Here in Belgium we had a very warm summer but it seems we are also now entering lower temperatures and at least it’s raining … I never thought I’d be happy about that 😉 Happy Monday xx

I love this outfit. Such great colors and those shoes have me swooning! I am so ready for fall as well but we also have at least a few more weeks of heat and humidity. Where I live though, we have more winter than anything. Fall will last from early October until late October at which point it starts snowing and doesn’t stop until May!

I’m in the same boat. It’s feeling more like fall now that we’re home from vacation and the kids are back in school, but it’s still hot and humid.
Too cute! I love that skirt!
I tend to start adding in darker tones to my closet once September hits. It’s my way to start heading into fall while still keeping things light! I absolutely love your jewel tones blouse!
