Ok so this may be a little tardy to actually be helpful but I really wanted to share the outfit that I wore on New Year’s Day. Yeah, we stayed home on NYE because we’re old souls and have a baby that doesn’t believe in sleeping in past 7am. Andrew and I had a good time though splitting a bottle of champaign and going down memory lane thinking about everything that happened in 2019 and making (more) plans for 2020. Neither of us has voluntarily seen midnight in months so we were both in bed and asleep by 10:30 pm.
New Year’s Day, however, was a different story! You may have seen on Instagram but I hosted some of my girlfriends over for our annual New Year holiday get together. I hosted a couple of years ago and the party broke up abruptly when I realized that I had a fever and started throwing up. Yeah, not a great scene. I had come down with the flu and was out of commission for about a week after that. The worst was that Andrew and I had tickets to attend the annual Seattle Symphony New Year’s Eve concert and party. Andrew ended up attending by himself and sent me this Gatsby-style photo that I woke up to the next day.
That all being said, this year was my redemption tour.
I requested that everyone dress up in festive outfits because why not? I wore these sequined leggings from Velvet that I’ve had for years now but never wear. I mean when else would you wear sequin pants other than New Year’s Eve?
I actually saw Krista Robertson wearing an outfit like this one on her stories and that’s where I got the idea to break out my party pants. I loved that she wore them with a warm relaxed sweater on top because it both contrasts all that is the pants but also who doesn’t want to be warm on a night like NYE? I’m just so past the point in my life where I’d even consider wearing a mini dress in December so this outfit really spoke to me. Warm, covered up, but still festive.
