Hi guys!
In my Evening Out post, I mentioned that I have started getting into wearing blazers. Since then I have been playing around with different ways to make them work in my everyday ho-hum life. I don’t work in an office setting that requires formal business clothes so I never thought that I could just wear them without all the formality. Every time I wear a blazer as a coat, I am able to make new discoveries about how they are truly the most versatile piece of clothing in my wardrobe. They can instantly dress an outfit up, down, or sideways.
I’ve pieces together four different ways to wear a blazer with four different types of blazer.
Take a look!
Cocktail Hour
Blazer: Philosophy (TJ Maxx)
Tank: Old Navy
Pants: American Eagle
Shoes: Bamboo
This is a look that I love! A simple tank underneath an angled blazer looks super chic and is a “now” trend. This is an outfit that could work as a day-to-night look as well. Kick on a pair of heels and you are ready for girl’s night!
Lunch Date
Blazer: H&M
Shirt: Forever 21
Jeans: American Eagle
Shoes: Arezzo
Adding a neutral colored blazer over your favorite jeans-and-a-tee can amp it up a couple notches. This simple look is a great one for people who are just starting to explore the blazer world. I added a structured bag to make this a grown up look that can function for my everyday.
Office Ready
Blazer: Alice Hope (TJ Maxx)
Dress: H&M
Shoes: Kork Ease
Adding a tailored coat over a structured LBD can make you office ready in minutes. With something covering the shoulders, you can make your favorite LBD work double duty by making it office appropriate (depending where you work, or course). It also adds a bit of fun and feminism to what otherwise may be a pantsuit situation. This coat also has a slight peplum detail in the back that fits my waistline and mimics the seams and structure of this dress giving me a bit more of a waist.
Weekend Fun
Blazer: Zara
Dress: H&M
Shoes: Converse
Add a blazer into your casual weekend look rather than a regular coat to switch it up. This blazer is a little longer (and a little warmer) on me so I have started using it over more revealing dresses. With a lot of leg showing, it’s nice to have the upper body more covered for balance. There are other styles of long coat-like blazers that look great on taller girls for this style of casual blazer-over-dress outfit, like these examples here and here
I hope that this was helpful and that it inspires you to add a blazer into your closet!
What is your favorite way of wearing blazers or tailored coats?
Let me know!
Until next time,
