While I do try to keep Teddy’s toys to a minimum, we have slowly gained our fair share of kiddie toys. Between the nice weather we’ve been having and playgrounds being closed due to coronavirus, we’ve accumulated a handful of outdoor toys and Teddy has been absolutely loving it! He wakes up in the morning asking to go “side” (outside), gathers his shoes then takes my hand and leads me to the door so he can get his hands on them.
Here are some of his favorites plus a couple of other outdoor toddler toys that look like a whole lot of fun!
Best Outdoor Toys for Toddlers
Water Table
This has been the biggest hit at our house! My parents got Teddy a similar water table from Costco and he will play with it every single day, rain or shine. He’s definitely going through more clothes these days but it’s totally worth it. The additional plastic fish that came with it has also doubled as bath toys.
Sidewalk Chalk
I have great memories of playing with sidewalk chalk on summer days. It’s been fun starting to have new memories and experiences with Ted. I found this non-toxic toddler chalk that is made extra sturdy and large for easier grip.
Bubble Machine
Teddy likes bubbles but I probably like them more. We have this bubble machine and it works pretty well. Ted actually prefers to just use it as a toy mower rather than for its bubble capabilities. I’ve also seen this jumbo bubble machine pop up multiple times in my “suggested products” and it has great reviews.
Toddler Slide
Another big hit at our house although it didn’t start out that way. Andrew was searching high and low to find one of these toddler slides on OfferUp or at garage sales. He finally broke and got this one from Target after about a month of searching. Teddy definitely took a couple of days to warm up to the slide but now it’s a new favorite. He will climb up and slide down over and over and over…
Beach Toys
These go hand in hand with the water table but Ted also loves using them in our raised beds. Ours are another Costco find but you can get a nice set on Amazon. Just make sure you find an option that comes with a way to carry all the little pieces.
Swing
Andrew found one of these on OfferUp for Ted! We actually haven’t set it up yet because we needed to find a safe spot that will bear the weight but once we do, Teddy will have yet another fun outdoor toy.
3-in-1 Scooter
Teddy isn’t quite old enough for these but a balance bike or scooter would be such a fun toy for a little kid. There are scooters that can grow with them similar to the balance bike. It starts off with a seat that you can remove once they are ready to scoot around standing up.
Gardening Wheelbarrow
If your toddler is in the “monkey see, monkey do” phase, this gardening wheelbarrow would be a cute way for your little to copy you in the garden. Plus it’s so stinking cute with all it’s “potted plants” and gardening accessories!
Splash Pad
We don’t have one of these because #Seattle but if you live somewhere warm, this toddler splash pad looks like a fun new take on running through the sprinkler. And if you don’t want to continually run the water, it doubles as a kiddie pool
Bubble Wands
If you don’t want to spend the money on a bubble machine, just get your hands on some soapy water and bubble wands! These are fun because you can make some really big bubbles. While the machines go for speed, bubble wands are all about size 😉
With all the coming fun in the sun we’ll have this summer, don’t forget the SPF!
