Dream Day Style Challenge with Lover.ly

Hi guys!

Today I have a bit of a different post for you.
You all know that I love styling outfits but today is my first time thinking about styling weddings.
I don’t remember ever thinking much about how I would like my wedding as a girl. It just wasn’t something in the front of my mind. However, as an adult, my friends and I have had great evenings watching shows like “Say Yes to the Dress” all the while judging and critiquing the dresses.

Lover.ly recently gave me the chance to give wedding planning a bit of thought as part of their Dream Day Style Challenge. For all you brides-to-be, Lover.ly is your bff on all things bridal. Their site is like a catalog; rather than searching several different sites, Lover.ly allows you to type in and sort exactly what you want.

Check out my take on bridal: beach, rustic, and city style!

Beach Affair
Beach weddings are all things sunny and bright in my book. Bright colors reflect the surrounding beach and water while guests feel the more relaxed vibes from the sand and surf.

Dream Day Style - Beach Affair

This dress is lacks a train (no need to worry about it dragging in the sand) but will still flutter in the ocean breeze as it has several tulip style layers of chiffon.
Keeping the hair up will keep it from flying around. Ornament an up-do with pearl clips or pins.
Mother of pearl stacking bracelets and drop earrings and stacking bracelets complete the jewelry.
A simple sandal will keep feet steady as they walk down a sandy aisle and the look is completed with brighter colors to match the sunny surroundings.

Rustic Chic

For all you Pinterest queens, rustic chic is the obvious choice for bridal style. Think old wooden barn with twinkle lights wrapped around the rafters. Think mis-matched place settings and a definite hand made, worn in, and well loved feel to the atmosphere.

The dress is simple yet chic with crystal details on the waist and a touch of lace in the front. See the front of the dress here.
The plunging back detail of the dress does not allow for a veil but still highlight the hair with a leaf pattern crystal headband.
Incorporating wildflowers into the bouquet and decor brings the outside in and gives off a gentle scent that will always be associated with your special day. It also allows soft pastel colors to work their way into the mix.
What rustic chic event would be complete without mason jar candle holders lining the aisle or placed on tables for soft flickering light.

City Glam

Nothing screams city glamour to me more than the Jazz Age. Think Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby with all it’s sparkle, shine, and opulence.  Think rooftop party in the heart of the city with twinkling lights as the sun goes down and reflects off the crystal.

For this look, the dress replicates Jazz Age flapper style with a dropped waist, small cap sleeves, and delicate embellishment.
The jewelry keeps the look era appropriate with Tiffany & Co. Jazz Age Glamour line of feminine pieces.
The finishing touches include nude T-strap heels, a neutral toned polish, and decorative orchids (Gatsby’s favorite).

What is your dream day style?
City Glam (aka Great Gatsby themed) was my favorite of the three looks to style.

Until next time,

Thank you Mel. It was a fun opportunity to think about something totally out of my normal range.
