London Fog trench coat (similar trench coat on sale. It also comes in plus sizes)// J.Crew stripe shirt (this is a top favorite of mine. I wear it basically any time it’s clean. Size down for a tighter fit) // similar bow jeans (these are more cropped than mine but they are currently on sale) // Cole Haan Sneakers (These are so comfortable. Runs TTS. I have an entire review here. Some colors are on sale here) // $25 Target Backpack (I use this as a diaper bag and I love it! It holds everything I need for a day out with Teddy) // $10 Amazon Sunglasses (because yes, there are days in Seattle where you need sunglasses and an umbrella at the same time)
Welcome back to Seattle. Here’s some rain!
Yeah, the first day we were back home it rained almost all day. Seattle has not endeared itself to me. But it did give me the opportunity to dust off my trench coat and make sure that it still remembers what its job.
Now I know most of you are still enjoying lovely summer weather but I think between that crisp feeling in the air in the morning, the return of pumpkin spice, and September starting next week, it’s safe to say that we all have fall on the brain. Whether you can’t wait to wear your sweaters and boots or if you’re like me and holding onto the last days of summer.
But back to trench coats.
Mine is from London Fog and isn’t for sale right now. I imagine that they will bring it back in the winter since it sold out pretty quickly last year. (You can read my full review here if you’re interested). However, if you want to get ahead of the weather, there are three trench coats on sale as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you should check out.
The first is this one from Sam Edelman. It’s currently on sale for $99 and is your classic timeless trench coat. This style is also available in plus sizes which the other two styles are not. I like the detail on the pocket but also that they kept the design really classic. Don’t fix it if it’s not broken right?
The second one worth looking into is by Pendleton. This is on sale for $150 and will probably be heavier duty than the Sam Edelman. Pendleton is a Northwest (Portland-based) brand so they know what they are doing when it comes to rain gear. My heavy-duty rain jacket is from Pendleton and I’ve had it for years now, no complaints. It costs a little bit more but the quality is sure to be there.
Finally, there’s this one from Via Spiga. This is the only one that includes a hood and comes in colors other than beige; both notable qualities in my opinion. It comes in navy and Bordeaux, neither of which are easy to come by in trench coats. Normally your options are beige or black.
Luckily for me, the rain stopped and I have no-holds-barred sunshine on my horizon but I know it won’t last. But at least I’ll have a trench to keep me dry. I hope you have one too once the wet weather rolls around.
