Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – Review

Hi guys!

Yesterday I went to the drugstore on a mission. I have been dying to try the new Revlon lip products, thier Moisture Stains. If you have been following this blog for a while then you may know that I have a bit of a love/obsession with Revlon lip products, especially the Balmstains!

With a price tag near $10 at my local drugstore (you can find them slightly cheaper at stores like Walmart and Target), I was only able to pick up two shades: 025 Cannes Crush and 050 London Posh.

From what I could tell by the packaging Cannes Crush looked like a pink-coral and London Posh a neutral brown-pink.

London Posh

The first one I busted open was London Posh. Upon the first swipe, I won’t lie, I thought that I had encountered the first Revlon lip product that I didn’t like! (Don’t worry, there is a happy ending to this story.) It applied on the chunky side and the color looked very different from the packaging, almost cream with brown undertones. I should also tell you that I applied this in the car (not while driving) and was a little disappointed after I applied it but thought to myself “what the heck, I’ll just go with it”. After a few minutes, I checked in the mirror again and low and behold, the gloss looked pretty good. It melts into my lips and enhances them with subtle color and, dare I say, made them look a little plumper.

The color pay off on London Posh was totally different from the idea I got from the package but overall I think it is a nice neutral to have in the lipstick arsenal.

Cannes Crush

Cannes Crush was a very similar application story but this time I knew what to expect. It also applied initially a different color from the package but almost instantly changed to a light, natural coral-pink. It melted into the lips, just like London Posh, leaving them looking enhanced but with natural color. After applying a second coat, the color became more vibrant coral. I can see where it gets its name. I would love to be on the beach in Cannes, with this lip color, a pair of stylish sunnies, and a floppy hat!

Overall, Revlon has done it again, in my opinion. They have created a lip color that applies like a gloss but lasts like a stain with sheer yet still vibrant colors. I am excited to get my hands on a couple other shades and see how they turn out!
