My man had his mom and aunt come into town this past weekend to pick up his sister (remember the cutie from these pics?) and we had a fun time showing them around and doing a couple touristy things. It’s amazing how you can live in a city and fall into a routine and forget how many things there are to do.
This time we went to the Skyview Observatory on the 73rd floor of the Columbia Tower. It is the tallest observatory in the city and west of the Mississippi. It was an incredible view! The whole city just spanned out under us with clouds and blue sky on our level. It was kind of a weird feeling at how close the airplanes were from up there compared to normal.
This isn’t the first time that I have been guilty this though. Another similar story. I used to live in NYC and never went out to the tourist attractions. Partially, I didn’t have the money. I also didn’t have a whole lot of free time but one night my roommate and I went up the the Empire State Building and I had a similar experience. It was already nighttime and had started snowing lightly so there were no lines or many people around. When we went up in the elevator the guides asked us where we were from and looked surprised when we said “here” so I guess it’s a fairly common affliction. However it was a beautiful view and the snow looked like it was going up rather than down and turned out to be a night I will never forget.
What touristy things have you NOT done in your hometown?

I’m on ’em all!
So many thing! I have made a bucket list of things to do. 🙂
The Skyview Observatory is definitely a good one!
Another Seattle blogger, fun!! I love our city. I did the Climb at the Columbia Tower once….that's a whole lotta stairs! I still have yet to do the Underground Tour and I've lived there/here most of my life! Crazy.
