Spring Beauty Edit

The best spring beauty trends for oily skinWhile the rain is still coming down here in Seattle, I am getting ready for spring in any way shape or form that I can. Since my wardrobe is still rooted in winter, I’ve started to change up my beauty routine to prep for warmer months.
A little back story about my skin. I have skin that is oily and acne prone all year long but also develops patches of eczema when there are big changes in the weather (ie spring and fall). Since my skin is so high maintenance in the past I’ve tended to stick with heavy duty makeup all year long regardless of the season but I’ve recently discovered that doesn’t have to be the case.

For skin, I recently started switching from my heavy-duty-24-hour-isn’t-going-to-budge foundation (which is AMAZING btw) for something a little lighter: a BB cream. Several years ago when BB Creams became a makeup trend I was highly skeptical anything would work for me due to the nature of my skin. However this Garnier BB Cream for oily skin has impressed me. The coverage is enough to conceal a majority of my problem areas but still look like skin rather than a caked on mask. If you really want the heavy duty stuff for spring and summer, try this version of my holy grail foundation. Same great coverage, much lighter feel. Side note: if you try out this BB cream and I would recommend that you do, make sure to get the one designed specifically for oily/combination skin.

On my cheeks I’ve started using several different cream blushes. With my oily skin I used to steer clear from anything but powder however times have changed. I’ve started using different cream blushes and have loved them. They create a much more natural flush and add a little highlight to the cheeks and cheekbone without additional highlighters.
For oilier skin, I really like this cream to powder blush for both its formula and beautiful coral color. This Stila blush palette is also amazing for those looking for a true cream blush. However if you want to test out cream blush on a budget, I like these options from e.l.f.

Now for the lips, which is my go-to seasonal beauty swap out, I like to lighten it up and gloss it up. While winter and fall is all about the matte reds and pretty plums. However spring and summer brings back the pinks, corals, and glossy reds. I recently discovered these glossy stains and they are incredible!
However YSL beauty products don’t come cheaply so I also highly recommend the L’Oreal Glossy stains as a wonderful budget alternative. Many high-end beauty companies have the same parent company as drugstore brands so you can find great budget friendly alternatives especially for things like lipstick.
And as far as lipstick goes, I also love the MAC creamsheen range as well as the Revlon Lip Butters. Hello hydration, shine, and serious pigmentation!

LOVE those lipstick colors! I’m a huge fan of the YSL beauty line but have yet to try this glossy stain! I’ll have to grab one next time I’m at Sephora!

We have a lot in common. I have oily skin too and my favorite foundation is Estee Lauder double wear. I have been wearing for years. I also use the press powder. I need to look into trying the lighter version for the warmer months. I have wanted to try a cream blush, but am terrified because of my oily skin. This post now has me wanting to take the plunge. Thanks for the other recommendations, I’ll be adding them to my wish list. ?
