I don’t know about you but the switch from Fall into Winter really kills my skin. Living in a humid environment means that the instant the heat switches on, my skin starts to feel like a dried up raisin. I’ve recently changed up my skincare routine for fall and winter by adding and subtracting. I added one powerful cleansing tool and subtracted all the extra frills that just weren’t helping.
A Little About My Skin
Overall I would say I have combination to oily skin but that doesn’t stop me from getting dry flaky patches during the winter months. Living in such a humid environment, turning on the heat in late fall means getting dry patches even with oily skin. I’m also very acne prone. I’ve tried just about everything off the drugstore shelf but little has actually helped in clearing them up for good (if you have any tips please help a girl out).
Exfoliating and Deep Pore Cleaning
My skincare is really two parts: cleansing and moisturizing (do you really need more than that?) I recently received the Clarisonic Mia 2 and it has changed the cleansing game! Clarisonic face brushes became popular several years ago but I had never tried it before now. After hearing about and seeing the results on friends and co-workers, I was super excited to test it out and I’m happy to say the Clarisonic Mia 2 doesn’t disappoint!
I used to think that cleansing with my fingers and some face wash would be enough to remove all my makeup butI was proved grossly wrong. After ‘removing’ my makeup, I went to test out the Clarisonic Mia 2 with some of the deep pore daily cleanser for the first time and was totally grossed out to see the brush head come away covered in face makeup afterwards. No wonder I can’t get rid of my clogged pores and acne!
Needless to say, I’m beyond pleased with how the Clarisonic has helped my clear up my stubbornly clogged pores with some solid cleansing and gentle exfoliation.
Project Hydration (minus the Oil)
The second part to beating winter skin is finding the right moisturizer. I’ve learned (the hard way) that even if you have oily skin, it still needs proper hydration from the inside and out. For me this means serum! I have been using the Bioderma Hydrating Serum nightly with great results. Either alone or layered the CervaVe PM Lotion, these products have been giving my skin just the right amount of moisture without making my skin overly greasy.
What is your winter skincare routine look like? Does it include the Clarisonic? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
