Pantone Color of 2017: Greenery

Pantone Color of 2017: Greenery

It’s a new year so you know what that means…
A new color of the year, of course! This year Pantone unveiled the new color (drum roll please): Greenery.
So what does that mean for all us fashionistas? Well, it means we have a whole new color to incorporate into our wardrobes and, more importantly, figure out how to wear it!

WHO IS THIS NEW COLOR?

What is this new color we are all supposed to be wearing this year? Well Greenery is a shade of green (duh) similar to chartreuse but with strong yellow undertones that is “signaling a yearning to rejuvenate, and to reconnect to both nature and something larger than oneself” (via Seattle Times).  Sounds just about right for 2017 right?

Can I just take a moment to say I’ve been talking about green since the fall. You need more reasons to wear the color? Check out this post about why you should be wearing green in winter (and now all year long)!

Now while I’ve been ranting and raving about olive green for months, Greenery is a little different but still perfect to wear. Much like olive green, Greenery is the perfect seasonal transition color. While darker greens were good for the fall to winter transition, Greenery is going to be the color to wear for our winter to spring transition. Side note: who else is ready for spring? Once the holidays are over, I’m happy to just go straight into April.

But getting back to our original topic: Greenery. Greenery will be a fresh color to be wearing in the spring and summer. Plus it pairs with neutrals so well that you can easily test it in your wardrobe before diving in and getting a whole bunch of new pieces. If you are still uncertain of how you could wear this color in your everyday wardrobe, check out this post about 5 ways to wear olive green. In my initial Greenery investigations, I’ve found that the same style tips apply but add accessories to the list! Greenery would be a great color on light weight scarves, cardigans, and statement necklaces.

It is a gorgeous dress and I love the color, but it looks mustard yellow or chartreuse to me, not the pantone green color at all. Am I color blind or is it the photography?
