If you’ve been following Northwest Blonde for a while (especially on the Instas), you know I love a good chunky knit. I doubly love it when said knit is a turtleneck. I
So why a chunky turtleneck? Because it’s all the warmth and coziness of wearing a blanket but without the Steve Jobs look (not cute). Balance the oversized fit with a slim bottom and you don’t ever have to worry about looking like you’re swimming in your clothing.
Still not sure about the oversized knit? Here are three easy ways to wear one like a #ClassicStyleGirl!
1. WITH JEANS
Seems straight forward but I’d just like to remind you to opt for a slim fit denim when matching it with your favorite oversized knit. Boyfriend fit jeans or anything overly baggy tends to visually weight you down when paired with other oversized items.
2. WITH A SKIRT
For all my ladies who love to wear skirts in winter but don’t like freezing to death, pair your favorite skirt with an oversized turtleneck knit for warmth! I love this combo and have been wearing it all winter long (especially around the holidays) because it allows you to also get wear out of those summer skirts during colder months. Want to get even more wear out of your wardrobe? Pop that knit over a dress for more versatility! (see me do it here)
3. OVER A BUTTON UP
Since my office is apparently in the arctic circle, I’ve started layering a lot more and I’ve discovered this new perfect sweater pairing: over a button up! Because only a hint of collar and, if you’re not a shirt tucker, some hem show, you can get away wearing some fun prints without worry (or feeling cold).

Loving this turtleneck look and this outfit is perfection! I’m so obsessed with them as well – but for some reason I can’t find anywhere that sells them over here! Can’t wait to get back home and get my hands on a few.

I love the idea of the over sized knit turtleneck. I’ve been trying to find a turtleneck that I feel comfortable in since the fall with fail, after fail, because they just feel too constricting but I think a nice over sized one would just do the trick for me. 🙂 Love, the look you’ve put together today. The button detail on your skirt is so fun. Stay warm and stylish. 🙂

I try to avoid chunky knits because I feel they make me look heavier. I find thin knits more suitable for my frame. But you look adorable in yours! Fabulous look!
LOVE this look! Turtlenecks are a must! Love how you styled this look, your skirt is adorable!!
